INT.

SCHOOL CLASSROOM/ CORRIDOR (AFTERNOON)

SOUND: Children having indistinctive chatter in the


background before the school bell rings marking the end
of the day. Footsteps of these children running along the
corridor desperately trying to leave.

JACK: Bye Kane, see you Monday!

KANE: Bye!

SOUND: Upbeat music starts to play to mark the change of


scene and to show Kane is now alone.

EXT. PARK (AFTERNOON)

LEE: Yo, are you looking for some easy cash little man?

KANE: UM, yeah okay.

LEE: All you have to do is deliver some packages for me


and the cash will be yours. Just make sure you don’t get
caught alright? Here’s your first batch, come collect
your money next Friday at 6pm if it’s all sold. Alright,
See you then.

INT. LEES STASH HOUSE (EVENING)

SOUND: Knock on the door, door opening

SOUND: Loud music blaring through the speakers on entry


to the house. Sounds of snorting and people singing in
the background away from where Kane and Lee are
speaking.
LEE: How’s your first week gone?

KANE: All good. Sold it all like you said.

LEE: See I knew I could trust you. Good job here you go.
I’ll see you back here same time next week.

INT. SCHOOL CLASSROOM/ CORRIDOR (AFTERNOON)

School bell RINGS for the end of the day again with Kane
and Jack walking out of the class; avoiding the hustle
and bustle of the other frantic children and their
stomping footsteps.

JACK: Are you okay? You’ve seemed off recently.

Kane: I’m fine just stop asking. Leave me alone.


JACK: I’m just looking out for you man. I guess I won’t
anymore.

SOUND: Music starts again to show the two separating,


however this time it has a more sorrow feel to it after
the argument between the two friends. The music then
fades out and creates more silence to show the end of the
scene.

INT. LEES STASH HOUSE (EVENING)

LEE: You made it! Yo come on through.

LEE: Here’s your cash. Woo! You gotta try some of this
man. You will love it.

Kane: Oh no I’m alright, I don’t do drugs

LEE: Come on your gonna try it at some point. Might as


well start young.

Everyone starts to CHANT for him to do it.

SOUND: snorts as Kane takes the drugs. Music is still


playing in the background as well as people chanting.

LEE: Haha look it’s Kane on coke! Co-Kane! Co-Kane! Co-


Kane! He’s loving it!

SOUND: People laughing

KANE: I-I-I'm gonna go now, see you um next week.

LEE: Have fun!

EXT. STREET CORNER (NIGHT)

Kane has left and is on the walk home. We hear his


FOOTSTEPS on the pathway.

KANE: My name is Kane, and I've done coke. Co-Kane Co-


Kane! Kane Drugovic. Haha my surname has drug in it!

SOUND: a loud bonk as Kane hits his head on a lamppost.


We hear him shout “OW!” before a thud on the floor.

INT. HOSPITAL WARD (MORNING)

SOUND: Hospital vitals beeping, coughing, background


mumbling
BETH: Hello. Kane my boy wake up for me please.

SOUND: Footsteps as the nurse walks in and a knock on the


door

NURSE: The results have come back.

BETH: Well what’s happened?

NURSE: Your son has a severe concussion. He is lucky to


still be breathing. However, we did find traces of
cocaine in his system.

BETH: Sorry? Cocaine? Surely not. My son would never.

NURSE: I’m sorry, but the results don’t lie. The police
want him in for questioning as soon as he wakes up.

We hear Beth CRYING before there is a pause of silence.


After a while, Kane wakes up.

KANE: Mum I'm so sorry.

BETH: Don’t be sorry darling, it’s okay. I’m glad you are
okay.

INT. Police station (AFTERNOON)

SOUND: Radio fuzz followed by a beep

POLICEMAN: The time is 2:47pm and I am joined here today


by Kane Drugovic for questioning. Can you recall the
accounts of what happened on the night of Friday 22nd
October.

KANE: Umm. I can’t really remember much. I know I was


going to a, um, friends house before then trying to walk
back home and ending up in hospital.

POLICEMAN: You see I think there's something your not


telling me Mr Drugovic. The hospital reports state
otherwise.

KANE: Okay, I might have been given a bit of cocaine. I’m


sorry I didn-

POLICEMAN: Give me a name

Kane stays silent and doesn’t answer


POLICEMAN: Look this is really out of place for someone
like you to be doing. Something must be going on here
that you’re not telling me. If you own up and tell me a
name, we won’t press charges against you, and will find
whoever did this and make them accountable.

KANE: Fine. It was Lee. Lee Rotherfield

POLICEMAN: Bloody hell. Lee fucking Rotherfield. We’ve


finally got him. Ever since he was as young as you, he’s
been dealing drugs; but we’ve never been able to catch
him. Now we have evidence to get him. Thank you.

EXT. LEES STASH HOUSE (AFTERNOON)

POLICEMAN: All set for entry

SOUND: Door getting smashed down

POLICEMAN: POLICE GET DOWN GET DOWN HANDS BEHIND YOUR


HEAD!

POLICEMAN: Lee Rotherfield you are under arrest for


possession and distribution of class A drugs. You do not
have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you
do not mention when questioned something which you later
rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in
evidence.

SOUND: Car door shutting then police sirens which slowly


fade out

INT. DRUGOVIC HOUSEHOLD (EVENING)

BETH: I’m so proud of you Kane. You spoke up and managed


to get a bad guy arrested. Just one thing, please never
be stupid and do anymore drugs. You now know the bad
effects it has on you!

KANE: Haha yeah, I won’t don’t you worry! Thanks mum, I


love you.

BETH: I love you too

SOUND: Music then plays to mark the end of the scene and
the production where I will then include the credits
which will be verbally spoken.
