since it was founded in 1872. We educate practical, forward-thinking decision makers and
socially responsible citizens capable of responding to the challenges of the contemporary
world and transforming society.

150 years since its creation, Sciences Po is now an international research university known
all around the world for its unique curriculum and cutting-edge research. It is home to 03

Sciences Po offers a multidisciplinary, multilingual and internationally-facing education in

the humanities and social sciences. Our programmes are professionally driven and
enriched by intellectually rigorous and innovative research into major contemporary
issues. They are designed to equip future leaders with the skills and expertise they need
to determine and protect the public interest. Our graduates are highly prized by
recruiters both in France and internationally: 80% of them find work within six months of
graduating, while 38% begin their careers outside of France.

To its own extraordinarily multicultural community, which includes a student body of 50%
international students from 150 countries, Sciences Po adds a network of 480 partners
and more than 40 dual degrees with universities around the world. That makes it one of
the very top social sciences universities globally and probably the leading international
university combining interdisciplinary studies and professional skills.

The Sciences Po undergraduate degree is taught on seven campuses around France. It

centres on six core disciplines (law, economics, humanities, history, political science and
sociology), complemented by additional courses in the arts and hard science disciplines.
Our seven Graduate Schools offer a range of nearly 30 Master’s programmes in
international affairs, public affairs, journalism, urban studies, management and impact,
research and law. These diverse programmes equip graduates for a wide range of careers.
Finally, five doctoral programmes (in law, economics, history, political science and
sociology) give our students the option of training alongside our researchers.

Opening minds, honing critical thinking, shedding light on contemporary issues from

Social Sciences created in 2019 and funded by the Erasmus+
programme (funding has been renewed for the period 2022-

Two years in France, one year abroad
The undergraduate curriculum is
designed to combine academic
study with intellectual and personal
development over the course of three
years. The first two years are spent in
France and the third year is spent abroad.
Students study the same curriculum on
all seven campuses. In addition to this
core curriculum, each campus gives
students the option of focusing their
studies on one region of the world:
Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and
the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and
the Middle East, or North America.
The first year is devoted to studying
the core disciplines, with introductory
courses in law, economics, history,
humanities, political science and
sociology.
In the second year, students continue
these core courses and choose an
additional major: “Economy and
Society”, “Political Humanities” and
“Politics and Government”
The third year is spent abroad.
Students have the choice between a
year-long academic exchange at one
of Sciences Po’s 480 partner
universities or a hybrid year,
combining a semester of study and a
semester in an internship.

Our fields of study
The research of our permanent faculty mobilises cutting-
edge tools to further questions and develop knowledge in
five major disciplines. Beyond traditional study, each
discipline explores new questions, in new fields such as:
In law: the globalisation of legal practices, intellectual
property in the digital age, protection of the
environment and the commons, shifting relations
between law and economics.
In economics: cognitive dimensions of economic
choices, shifts in the labour market, industrial policy, the
links between economics and democracy.
In history: environmental issues, cultural history and
social issues, the history of Africa.
In political science: issues surrounding the emergence
of populism around the world, use of digital technology
in election campaigns.
In sociology: study of fundamental issues around
inequality; research into health, gender, digital
technology and the environment.
Finally, every year, particular emphasis is placed on
enhancing interdisciplinarity and sharing research
methods and insights with the student community
across all levels.

 SUMMER
SCHOOL
The Summer School is a unique opportunity
for students from all over the world to
discover Sciences Po, France’s leading
university in the social sciences. Participants
20 have the opportunity to experience the

academic environment at Sciences Po and
to become a part of its international
community. The Summer School offers two
programmes every year:

The University Programme is aimed at

students and graduates from within higher
education. It hosts 450 students every year
from around 55 different countries.
Participants have the choice between two
courses: one focusing on the social sciences,
where students study Sciences Po’s core
disciplines, and one French as a foreign
language course, where they can boost their
language skills. Both programmes are taught
on our Paris Campus in the heart of Saint-
Germain-des-Prés, over the course of two
separate sessions during the months of June
and July. Students can attend one or both
sessions. The Summer School also offers a
wide range of cultural trips and activities,
allowing students to discover Paris, its
history and French culture.
ONLINE PROGRAMME -
World Climate
Negotiations Bootcamp
The Summer School also offers a
new online session for high school
students. This programme is
perfectly suited to students
interested in environmental issues
who are looking to hone their
negotiation skills and get to grips
with issues within international
relations and diplomacy.

The Pre-College Programme welcomes

secondary students from around the world
for an intensive programme on the social
sciences taught in English. Students are
given an introduction to Sciences Po’s core
disciplines and gain a taste of university life.
The programme is held on the Reims and the
Paris Campuses during a three-week session
in July. In addition to the academic
programme, students can also participate in
a variety of extracurricular activities and
cultural visits.

Sciences Po has partnered with internationally renowned universities to
offer dual degree programmes at both Master's and PhD level. Students
interested in applying for a dual degree must either apply through the
Sciences Po admissions platform or via the website of the partner

Doctoral admissions
Candidates who already hold a master’s degree (Bac +5) and wish to apply
for a PhD programme in law, economics, history, political science or
sociology must apply directly online, irrespective of where they earned
their previous degree (i.e. in France or abroad). They may be invited to an
interview. The Sciences Po School of Research also offers dual PhD
programmes.

The Emile Boutmy Scholarship

Named after Sciences Po’s founder, this scholarship is awarded to first-time

annually.

Eiffel Scholarship
The Eiffel Scholarship is awarded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs
to candidates from emerging countries. Other scholarships and financial aid
are available for students from outside the European Economic Area,
among them the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, the Campus
France Scholarship, and more.

The Sciences Po Housing Service can help you with your
search for accommodation. Our staff will guide you
towards the housing solution that best suits your needs.
Various partnerships have been established allowing
eligible students to receive accommodation in student
residences.
