awards that recognize academic excellence,
resilience and community leadership. Some financial
awards require that you submit an application for
consideration, while other entrance awards are
automatically assessed and awarded at the time of
your admission.

for scholarships, awards and financial aid, please

Scholarships and Awards
Requiring an Application
York University is committed to giving a broad

International students who attend York
University have access to a wide variety of
supports, academic, financial, and otherwise
to help them in meeting their academic goals.

To be considered for the scholarships and

awards below, you must submit the
International Student Scholarship & Award
Application. These scholarships and awards
are for applicants with an exceptional
academic profile, and who demonstrate
leadership through community service or
excellence in the arts or sport. Students do
not need an offer of admission to apply for
York entrance awards and scholarships.
Note: Scholarship values are subject to
change.

Important dates:
The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 application will
open in November 2023.
The application deadline is February 15,
2024.

Application form when it opens in November.

Note: A 9-digit York reference number is

required, which you will receive within 5
business days of applying to York. Ensure that
you submit your application for admission well
in advance of the scholarship application
deadline February 15, 2024.

Requirements:

Must be an international student who is

required to have a Study Permit to
study in Canada
Must have applied to an undergraduate
degree program at York that begins in
Fall 2024
Must have applied to York directly from
high school no more than two years
after graduation, and have no previous
university or college studies (not
applicable to Tentanda Via Award)
Must have an excellent academic
record with a minimum “A” average or
equivalent (where applicable)
Must have demonstrated leadership
through community service or
excellence in the arts, sports, or other
areas of individual achievement (where
applicable)
Must upload one letter of
recommendation or other supporting
documents as applicable
Must ensure all required documents
are shown as “Received” in the York
application (MyFile), by February 15,
2024 at 11:59:59pm, Eastern Time
Must complete and submit the online
International Student Scholarship
Application by February 15, 2024 at
11:59:59pm, Eastern Time

The Application form opens around

November 15.

Scholarship & Award Application, you will be
considered for the scholarships listed below
except for the Tentanda Via Award (you must
specifically select the Tentanda Via Award
on the application form to be considered):

President’s International $180,000

Scholarship of Excellence ($45,000 x
Twenty (20) of these 4 years)
scholarships are awarded per
year, valued at $45,000/year.
It is renewable for an
additional three years of full-
time undergraduate study if
the student maintains good
academic standing each year,
bringing it to a total of
$180,000 over four years.
Tentanda Via Award $120,000
Fifteen (15) of these awards ($30,000 x
are awarded per year, valued 4 years)
at $30,000/year. It is
renewable for an additional
three years of full-time
undergraduate study if the
student maintains good
academic standing each year,
bringing it to a total of
$120,000 over four years.
Global Leader of Tomorrow $80,000
Award for International ($20,000 x
Students 4 years)
Two (2) of these scholarships
are awarded per year, valued
at $20,000/year. It is
renewable for an additional
three years of full-time
undergraduate study if the
student maintains high
academic standing each year,
bringing it to a total of $80,000
over four years.
International Circle of $15,000
Scholar’s Scholarship
One (1) of these scholarships
is awarded per year, valued at
$15,000. It is for $15,000
towards a student’s first year
of study.
York University Academic $5,000-
Excellence Scholarships for 10,000
International Students
Five (5) to 10 of these
scholarships are awarded per
year, valued at $5,000 to
$10,000. It is for $5,000 to
$10,000 towards a student’s
first year of study.
