CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION
Water that is safe and easily accessible is
essential for public health, whether it is
utilized for drinking, residential use, food
production, or pleasure. Improved water
supply and sanitation, as well as better water
resource management, can boost countries'
economic growth and contribute significantly
to poverty reduction.
Water Pollution It is described as the
contamination of a
stream, river, lake,
ocean, or other body of
water, which depletes
water quality and makes
it dangerous to the
environment and humans.
Two types of Water Pollution

Organic pollution due Chemical pollution

to microorganisms - generated by the nitrates
bacteria and viruses - and phosphates of
pesticides, human and
present in the water,
animal drugs, household
generated by excrement,
products, heavy metals,
animal and vegetable acids and hydrocarbons

Effects of Water
Pollution
ON THE ENVIRONMENT
Water pollution has a real
impact on biodiversity and
aquatic habitats. Toxic
chemicals can change the
color of water and increase
the amount of minerals in it, a
process known as
eutrophication, which has a
negative influence on aquatic
life.
ON HUMAN HEALTH
Water pollution is
extremely hazardous to
public health. Drinking or
coming into contact with
contaminated water can
cause a variety of ailments,
including diarrhea, cholera,
typhoid, dysentery, and
skin infections

pollution
prevention
Wasterwaste treatment

Wastewater treatment is the

process of eliminating
pollutants from wastewater
using a physical, chemical, or
biological method.
Air pollution prevention

Air pollution has a direct impact

on water contamination as 25%
of human induced CO2
emissions are absorbed by
oceans. This pollution causes a
rapid acidification of our
oceans, and threatens marine
life and corals
Plastic waste reduction

80% of plastic in our oceans is

from land sources. In order to
reduce the amount of plastic
entering our ocean, we need to
both reduce our use of plastic
globally, and to improve
plastic waste management.
Water conservation

It is central in making sure the

world has better access to
clean water. It means being
aware that water is a scarce
resource, taking care of it
accordingly, and managing it
responsibly.
