How to Turbo-Charge Your Life!

5 Steps to Unleashing Your Purpose, Passion, and Play

by Bob Baker and Pooki Lee

Welcome to a simple guide that could very well change your life.

Most likely, you're reading this because you heard

about it on Bob’s YouTube channel or podcast.

Or we mentioned it during one of our Sunday

Inspiration Live broadcasts. Or we met you at an
online or in-person event.

No matter what brought you here, we’re glad you

came!

Here’s something else we know about you …

There’s a good chance you’ve recently experienced

an unexpected shift in your life.

Something painful has happened and you find yourself wondering how in the heck you got into this
mess and how you’re going to climb out of it.

We understand. Believe us, we’ve been there.

In 2008, we were riding high. We had been a couple for three years and were living together in a
house we had just purchased the year before. Bob’s income from his books and related services was
growing. His online status as a respected source of inspiration for musicians and creative people was
solid and expanding.

1
Pooki was coming into her own after years of struggle following a separation and divorce. Her sense
of self-worth was growing and she was feeling more comfortable in her own skin.

We traveled, had a growing circle of friends, and attended life-changing workshops.

Life was good!

Then, over the next few years, things deteriorated.

First, the economy tanked, which threw everyone into a tailspin. The
house we had purchased was suddenly worth a lot less than we had
paid for it.

Also, as the internet matured and got a lot noisier, sales of Bob’s
books and services declined. Then, a source of income that made up
nearly 25% of his annual income suddenly dried up.

Things got tense. Money was tight. We had to pivot and get creative
to keep paying our basic living expenses. We came close to going into
foreclosure and losing the house. The life we had created together
was crumbling.

One of the greatest frustrations of these challenging years was wondering,

“How in the hell did we get here?”

We were good people, doing good work in the world. And yet we continued to struggle for some
unknown reason.

We questioned our identities, our place in the world, and our purpose. Scarcity thinking was
constantly knocking on the door. And there were times we were tempted to open the door and let all
of that fear, doubt, and worry in.

It was a monumental shift we had to work through. And luckily, we did work through it.

Every morning before getting out of bed, we did three things: meditate, visualize, and affirm. We said
a prayer for those who handled our mortgage account. We visualized what we wanted to experience
each day.

2
And we affirmed that we were going to rise above this hurdle and live the life of abundance, success,
and prosperity we knew we deserved.

It took some time, but the good news is, we figured it out and came out the other side at a higher
level than we had ever been before.

Perhaps you feel like you’re at a similar crossroads in your life.

Do any of these describe you?

You have recently:

● Lost a job
● Experienced a relationship breakup
● Encountered a health challenge
● Lost a loved one or pet
● Realized you have put your dreams on hold for too long
● Lost your sense of purpose, passion, and play
● Concluded that you are not living the authentic life you are meant to live
● Reached a point in your life when you thought you’d be happy, but you’re not

Which one reflects where you are right now the most?

First of all, if you are feeling any of these pains and

frustrations, congratulations on acknowledging it and
having a sincere interest in correcting your course.

Believe us, a better life is in your future. But only IF you

take steps now to get your life back on track.

And beyond wanting to just get back to “normal,” your

ultimate goal should be to experience even higher levels of
success, joy, and fulfillment.

Sadly, most people aren’t proactive when faced with a setback or a situation that rocks
their world.

Instead, they bury their pain and hope for a miracle to save them.

Just think about how ignoring your current challenge will impact you.
3
What will happen if you don’t address it?
● You might look at your friends, peers, and neighbors and see them moving up the ladder of
success, while you continue to feel stuck and unworthy.
● You’ll fall deeper into a hole of despair, wondering where it all went wrong and feeling
powerless about how to get your mojo back.
● You’ll feel lost and lonely without a partner or a group of people who “get you” and encourage
you.

Ignoring this low point in your life can lead to a downward spiral - and that’s obviously NOT what you
want.

That’s why you’re here - and why we created this guide and the five life-changing steps included.

Based on our own personal growth journeys and the work we’ve done helping hundreds of people
around the world …

Here are the things we believe are currently keeping you down:
● You lack a simple roadmap to improve your life that puts all the pieces together.
● You forgot the brilliant truth of who you really are.
● You don’t fully realize your personal power and ability to move forward.
● You are missing human connection and a peer support group.

We’re not mind-readers, but here is our best guess at what you want most:
● To live a life of purpose, passion, and
play.
● To be a fully actualized expression of
your authentic self.
● To feel confident, worthy, and deserving
of happiness and success.
● To wake up feeling happy and grateful
every day.
● To regain your health and physical
vitality.
● To connect with a supportive tribe of
inspiring, high-vibe people.

Did we come close to describing you and your

current situation?

4
We feel your pain - we’ve been there
Bob spent the first few decades of his life immersed in music, theatre, and the arts - but he constantly
struggled with money and self-confidence. He also went through a painful divorce in his late ‘30s and
wondered why his life had taken such a dark turn.

In her 20s and 30s, Pooki worked a long string of low-paying jobs to pay the bills and feed her family
while her sons were in high school. She often worked two jobs, waking early in the morning and
coming home late at night. It was exhausting, with little time for family and the other things she
loved.

We’re two people who each had to find our way and do the personal growth work necessary to create
a better life.

In 2005, we came together as a couple and before long discovered our shared mission to help and
uplift others. It’s been an amazing journey to get to where we are today. There were so many things
we had to overcome and learn.

Here’s the Ultimate Solution That Worked

for Us - and It Will Work for You Too!
We’ve tried a lot of different self-improvement tools
and tactics over the years: meditation, goal-setting,
visualization, journaling, morning routines, and
affirmations (of course).

All of those things can help you - and we

recommend you incorporate as many of them into
your life as you can.

But as we look back on our lives and evaluate what has been the most effective for us and many
other people, one thing stands out above all the others.

Making a commitment to a big, scary, almost impossible goal!

That’s right. The biggest positive shifts in our lives came when we chose and committed to a single
goal.
5
And not just any goal. But a goal that challenged us to grow and expand outside of our normal
comfort zones.

We call it your Big Bold Bodacious Goal (BBBG).

But you may be asking, “Exactly what is that?”

The ultimate BBBG for you is your answer to this question:

What’s the one thing that, if you achieved it within the next six months,
would have the greatest positive impact on your life and those you love?

Take some time here. Don’t rush it. And remember, it needs to feel a little
risky and scary – a goal that is going to call forth the best in you.

That’s your Big Bold Bodacious Goal!

And, pursuing it and achieving it will add purpose, passion, and meaning to your life. It will transform
you into a new, enhanced version of yourself. You will begin to live the life you previously only
dreamed of and are now creating!

Your BBBG might be a new career, the perfect lover, a healthier body, more money, your first book,
international travel, a new morning routine or spiritual practice, or something else that brings
success, accomplishment, and transformation to your life.

Want some personal examples?

Bob’s story
When I was 26, I decided to publish a newspaper covering the St. Louis music scene. I had no prior
journalism experience and no connections or resources - just a desire to serve my community and
build a small business.

So I dove in and dedicated my life to this primary goal.

I published that newspaper for a full decade and learned so much about writing, editing, graphic
design, and serving an audience - all skills I put to good use later as an author and online marketer.

6
Over those ten years, I honed my skills as an interviewer, became a much better writer and editor,
and made connections with so many people in the music industry.

The benefits I received from this one single pursuit impacted my life in countless ways.

Pooki’s story
In 2008, my life was getting better, but I was still plagued with feelings of unworthiness and
self-doubt. I felt lost. My thoughts and actions were scattered. My life was out of balance and the
future was uncertain.

Fueled by wanting something more in my life, I made a bold decision. I attended a music retreat in
California by myself.

I returned home with a vision to start a community choir that sang songs of love, peace, and unity.
This was a huge risk. I had never directed a choir before, and I had only been singing for a couple of
years. I didn’t even know how to play an instrument. This really took me out of my comfort zone!

Bob and I had been a couple for

three years at that point and he was
actively helping me with my
singing. So I asked him to assist me
with the choir. Being a rock ‘n’ roll
guy, he was reluctant at first. But
with some gentle persuading, he
finally said yes.

It got off to a slow start, but my

steadfast commitment to this big
bold goal led to so many incredible
blessings. Over the years, we
performed at churches and festivals across the Midwest and shared the stage with Michael Beckwith,
Marianne Williamson, Neale Donald Walsch, Alan Cohen, James Redfield, and more.

The choir also ignited a beautiful songwriting collaboration between Bob and me that continues to
this day. My decision to start a choir has enriched my life in ways I could have never imagined.

That’s why we’re so sold on YOU choosing and pursuing a Big Bold Bodacious Goal of your own!

5 Steps to Turbo-Charge Your Life
Here’s the roadmap we’ve used to improve our lives through the pursuit of a Big Bold Bodacious
Goal.

These steps are part of a more in-depth personal transformation formula we’ve developed that can
be summed up with three words: Heal, Activate, and Connect.

All of the immense personal growth we’ve experienced in our own lives – and have witnessed in the
lives of hundreds of people we’ve mentored – follow this simple process.

Heal. Activate. Connect.

Let’s dig in and start applying these principles to your life …

Step 1
Choose Your Big Bold Bodacious Goal
The first step you need to take when you really want
to turn up the volume and turbo-charge your life is
to decide on a personal transformation target.

But it can’t be a wishy-washy target. And it can’t be

a long list of fuzzy “I want to improve my life” goals.

You need a goal that is specific and measurable and

a bit scary. A goal that will stretch you and unleash a
sense of purpose and passion - along with a lot of joy along the way!

What is that singular Big Bold Bodacious Goal for you?

But we can hear you say, “I have so many areas of my life I want to improve, I can’t choose just one.”

Yep. We get it. We have wide-ranging ambitions too.

8
You don’t have to completely turn your back on other pursuits, but the key to radical transformation
is having a clearly defined point of focus.

Again, the ideal goal for you is your answer to this question:

What’s the one thing that, if you achieved it within the next six months, would have the greatest positive
impact on your life and those you love?

Note the words “one thing.”

In his classic book, Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill described it as a “definite chief aim” - which
combines a burning desire with a definite purpose.

You’ll need a definite chief aim of your own to make major improvements in your life.

Without a specific Big Bold Bodacious Goal, you might very well continue to struggle and wander
through life without a rudder. You’ll wonder why your progress is so slow.

But with a clear Big Bold Bodacious Goal to move toward, magic happens. Opportunities you could
never imagine await you.

Bob’s story
At age 36, when my music newspaper was
approaching its ten-year anniversary, I was
ready for a change.

I had grown tired of the monthly deadlines

and found myself excited about a new
adventure: being an author and teacher.

A few years earlier, my first book had been

published and I found myself drawn more and more to this new way to serve. However, my time and
attention were scattered. I played in a band, performed in plays, published the newspaper, and
immersed myself in this new thing called the internet.

It was too much. So I made the tough decision to put the newspaper to rest, cut back on my many
activities, and focus on publishing books and spreading my message online.

9
It worked. Within a few years, I was able to make a good living selling books and other information
products. So many wonderful experiences and opportunities came my way.

While you do want to be committed to your Big Bold Bodacious Goal for the long haul, it can evolve
over time. When one chapter of your life runs its course, set your sights on a new BBBG.

But it all starts with you knowing the time is right and making a concrete decision to become a new,
improved version of yourself!

Step 2
Uncover the Hidden Beliefs That Are Holding You Back
Choosing your Big Bold Bodacious Goal is exciting. Deciding what your transformational target is can
fill you with energy.

It can also scare the bejeezus out of you. And that’s a good thing!

Pursuing a big goal will bring up

resistance and all sorts of
negative feelings. Fear, self-doubt,
and imposter syndrome are some
of the most common reactions.

You may want to avoid these

emotional responses, but the
most important thing you can do
is deal with them head-on.
Become hyper-aware of those
uneasy feelings.

Most important, you need to

identify the underlying belief that
triggers your negative reactions to pursuing your Big Bold Bodacious Goal. Dig deep and uncover
what is causing them.

That’s actually one of the first steps in the Heal, Activate, Connect process.

10
To heal yourself, you need to be aware of what the wound is and how it got there. Only then can you
do the important work of diminishing its power over you.

Shining the light of awareness on your limiting beliefs can set you free!

But plodding ahead without addressing the root of what’s holding you back can lead to stagnation
and frustration.

Pooki’s story
All my life, I have been a dancer. I have been dancing onstage with my family since I was two years old
sharing the art of the Hawaiian Hula. Being on stage was not scary to me at all. In fact, I loved it!
However, singing or speaking into a microphone terrified me.

Shortly after Bob and I started dating,

an opportunity came up for him to
write a song for the global premier of a
movie based on the book, “The
Celestine Prophecy.”

Bob wrote a powerful song about

synchronicity and invited a local artist,
Deborah Sharn, to sing it with him.

Days before the event, while

rollerskating with his daughter, Bob fell
and cracked a rib. This made it
unbearable for him to sing, much less
play guitar.

After hearing Bob and Deborah sing this song several times while rehearsing, I felt like I might be able
to sing Bob‘s part.

Bob asked Deborah if I could do that. Her first response was, “Can Pooki sing?” He replied, “Yeah, I
think so.” After a quick rehearsal with Deborah, she agreed.

My public debut as a singer was in front of a full house of over 250 people. I was so nervous and
scared. It felt like an out-of-body experience.

11
I cannot tell you how many times the thought of “What the heck are you doing, Pooki?” came up.

The voices in my head told me, “You’re not a singer and you don’t have a pretty voice like other
women.” My voice has always been deep and a little raspy.

But the thought of Bob’s song going unheard

during this premiere was unacceptable. That
allowed me to push away my limiting beliefs.
It was so SCARY but I did it anyway!

It seems my first time singing in public that

night went pretty well. I even had people
come up to me after the event asking where
they could hear me sing again.

And that’s how my singing career started. I’m

so grateful for this beautiful expression of love
and joy that is revealed through my voice!
I LOVE TO SING!

But I may have never enjoyed this side of my creative expression had I not faced the fear and the
limiting beliefs and moved forward anyway.

Step 3
Rewire Your Brain to Sustain You
Once you’ve identified the limiting beliefs that are holding you back, it’s time to start the process of
replacing them with new, empowering beliefs.

This is also part of the Healing process.

Let’s compare it to how you would recover from a physical injury: First, you identify and address the
wound. Then you come up with a treatment plan that gets you back to good health as soon as
possible.

When healing your limiting beliefs, there is a wide array of techniques you can use as part of your
treatment plan. They include affirmations, meditation, journaling, visualization, and more.
12
The idea at this stage is to bombard your mind with positive energy and to stay focused on your Big
Bold Bodacious Goal and the new life you are creating.

The best approach is to overwhelm your system with a new way of thinking and being – one that will
uplift you and drown out the fear and negativity you are used to feeling.

This part of the healing process can take time. It probably took years (and even decades) of negative
self-talk and harmful behaviors to ingrain your current belief system. Be patient with yourself.

It may take a while to recalibrate your energetic set

point. But it is well worth the time and effort to move
through this stage. You are in the process of actively
reprogramming your brain. This takes time.

And this is where so many people get frustrated and

give up. They get pumped up after reading a book or
attending a workshop … then they are disappointed
when they so easily fall back into their old,
self-defeating patterns.

If you’ve experienced this type of setback before, it’s because you were simply in the early stages of
creating new ways of thinking and being. Keep going. Most important, don’t quit!

Your old beliefs have a strong pull. They’ve been running the show for years and they won’t be eager
to hand over the reins.

But over time, your old operating system will quiet down and the new, improved version of you will
take center stage more often.

So prepare yourself for this journey and hang in there!

Step 4
Commit to Action, Habits, and Milestones
The next stage of our personal transformation process is Activate. That’s when you take all of the
important internal work you’ve done in the Heal phase and put it into practice.

13
You develop new habits and behaviors that bring to life the new vision and mindset shift you are
creating.

Of course, these new action steps are designed to move you in the direction of your Big Bold
Bodacious Goal. They compel you to interact with the real world.

The actions you take convert your positive thoughts into a tangible form, which leads to you feeling
more confident and capable of reaching your goal. The combination of positive thoughts with
inspired action is powerful!

It’s a beautiful process that snowballs over time, as long as you have a concrete plan to move toward
your BBBG.

Here’s the thing: The actions you take don’t have to be massive. Small incremental progress works
just fine.

It also helps to set milestones and celebrate small victories along the way. Too many people feel
defeated as long as they are short of reaching their goal. The best approach is to enjoy the journey as
you celebrate, learn, and grow on the road to your Big Bold Bodacious Goal.

The key to success with this step is being consistent - day after day, week after week, month after
month. So don’t skip or take this step lightly. This is where all of the “magic” is!

To succeed, it takes commitment and a willingness to find joy and creativity in the habits and
behaviors you create.

Bob’s story
In my late 30s, when I made a commitment to pursue a career as
an author, I had a lot of hurdles to overcome.

I had a full-time job at the time, and a few times a week I cared for my
daughter, who was a toddler then. I didn't exactly have an abundance of
free time to devote to this new aspiration.

But I made time. A little bit here, a little bit there. Nights after my daughter
went to bed and most weekends, I carved out time to write and spread my
message on the internet.

14
In my early ‘40s, I wrote a 100,000-word book over the course of eight months. Yes, it was a grind at
times, but I chipped away at it until the book was finished.

That pretty much sums up how I’ve accomplished everything in my life. There was no big break or
monumental turning point. I benefited from slow and steady progress because I made consistent
baby steps a priority in my life.

You can do the same thing with your Big Bold Bodacious Goal!

Step 5
Get Support and Encouragement
By the time you get to this step, you are fully engaged in the Healing process of identifying your
limiting beliefs and updating the internal dialogue in your mind. You are feeling more empowered
with each passing day.

You are also getting Activated and

developing new habits and behaviors that
are moving you closer to the realization of
your Big Bold Bodacious Goal.

Now it’s time to Connect!

Personal empowerment is a wonderful

thing, and we are big believers in
self-reliance. But we also understand the
power of community and having a tribe of
like-minded people who support you and
cheer you on.

This personal support can take the form of a mentor or two, a circle of friends, a mastermind group,
an online forum, and more.

You don’t need other people to validate your self-worth. That comes from within. But there’s no
denying that having one or more people in your corner can lead to massive achievement. Going it
alone is admirable but it often results in much slower progress.

15
So seek out people who will guide and inspire you. And do your best to spend less time with people
who don’t get you or don’t support your goal.

Bob’s story
Several years ago I was part of an informal mastermind with a group of friends. We met once a month
to report our progress and give and get advice.

At one meeting I was casually talking about my love for improv comedy and how I would love to
teach it someday.

Toni, one of the group members,

stopped me cold and said, “Set
a date!”

“What?” I asked.

“I’ve heard you talk about

improv many times,” she said.
“And you always light up when
you do. So … set a date to teach
your first class. I’ll be there.”

The other members chimed in.

“Yeah, I’d love to be there too.”

And that’s how I started

teaching improv comedy
classes.

That one challenge from a caring friend led to all sorts of wonderful experiences. I soon became a
recognized improv instructor in my hometown.

It also led to me writing a book on musical improv with Laura Hall, the pianist and music director of
the TV show, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”

All because I engaged with a group of supportive peers!

16
Now it’s your time to shine!
In this guide, we’ve given you a basic roadmap you can use to pursue your own Big Bold Bodacious
Goal.

And even though we’ve only given you a peek at some aspects of the Heal, Activate, and Connect
process, you now have enough knowledge to move forward with confidence.

And that’s what we want for you most of all. To develop the skills and tools to live your best life. For
you to feel confident, worthy, and deserving of happiness and success.

Our deepest desire is for you to be an authentic expression of your true self.

Not because it’s something you “should do.” We want you to show up in all your brilliance because
that is simply who you ARE!

It doesn’t get any better than that!
