Here’s a good article that ran in Progressive Dairyman last year that you may have missed. It
focuses on two dairies, one in Texas and one in Idaho which implemented sprouted fodder
systems in their operations recently. Here are a couple of takeaways:
Despite an initial drop in production, Weston, Idaho dairyman Calvin Nash saw a net monthly
gain in profit of about $10,000.
Nash said harvesting and reseeding his four tons per day/200 cows system required him and
2-3 others about 2 hours a day (Note: the FodderTech system was designed to minimize the
amount of labor required. We estimate about 1 man hour of labor per day per ton of
fodder.).
West Texas dairy farmer Tom White notes that it takes one half gallon of water to grow a
pound of fodder vs. 58 gallons of water to grow a pound of alfalfa hay.

Both farmers insist you can throw out the traditional methods used to measure nutrition in
feed. Says Nash, “Don’t believe the nutritionists, this actually does work!”
Anyway, it’s a good read if you’re considering a fodder system. Give us a call, we’d love to tell you
why our system is far superior to any other system on the market.
