Transhumanism is a very important dilemma that is consistently being debated in our lives.

Transhumanism is for me a technological evolution of our bodies in order to make our lives longer
and easier. Each individual has a different perception of whether transhumanism is a bad thing or a
good thing or nowadays society, that is why in this commentary, I am going to evaluate the pros and
cons of transhumanism, finally, I will give my opinion about Transhumanism.

First of all, transhumanism is being a necessity for people in need like handicapped people who can
feel like everyone else with a prosthetic but transhumanism what it does, it brings additional
technology to the prosthetic which can create capacities that overcome human “natural” capacities.
We can state for example, in the documentary from “Aljazeera” where we have seen a human who
has loss his eye and replaced it with a functioning eye with an additional camera integrated in the
eye. He said to the journalist that he feels more confident and cooler that anybody else by acquiring
this unique capacity of recording with your own eyes. Moreover, transhumanism can create a safer
and painless job environment that can increase life expectancy as well as work productivity.
Furthermore, there is already a part of transhumanism that is being developed and applied already
nowadays and it is organ replacement that improves life expectancy and aims at a safer way of living
with some artificial organs that prevent cardiac arrests.

On the other hand, there is many downsides to this ideal technological evolution. Transhumanism
leads to less uniqueness and a loss of satisfaction and feeling by feeling less pain and having robotics
arms that are too “perfect”. When you have achieved perfection, there is nothing more to
accomplished and that is not the goal in life. The human mind is designed in a way where it always
needs challenges in order to live and create emotions. To link this con to the documentary of
Aljazeera, there is the example of playing the guitar where when you have a biological robotic hand, it
doesn’t sound anymore like you. In general, Transhumanism can lead to global problems like over-
population, and an economic change as well as War about the allocation of technology that is
exclusive to developed countries and rich people.

In conclusion, I believe that Transhumanism is a efficient way to evolve in our society but it needs to
have ethical regulations to limit all the cons related to transhumanism. Finally, I think as well as

ethical regulations, we should impose laws to avoid a technological take-over especially with AI and
robots.

And you, do you believe that Transhumanism is a good way to developed our society to make our
lives better? And would you let a multinational company like neurolink implant you a chip in your
brain?
