1. What healthy alternative foods can families be encouraged to bring in place of

birthday cake?

A healthier substitutes to a birthday cake include a pudding, ice cream or sorbet, served

with biscuits or cookies. Additionally, vegan shortcakes, a pound cake or loaf cake or sweet

bread or pancakes, with a scoop of ice cream or sorbet can suffice for a birthday celebration in

place of a cake. Other healthier choices would include cupcakes or individual tartlets

or macaroons or cookies, served with a scoop of ice cream or sorbet. Furthermore, substitute a

fruit or fruit compote or sweet syrup or liquor topping for ice cream or sorbet. Put chocolate

syrup or (cinnamon and sugar) on toasted bread with butter. For a healthier choice, fruits and

fruit baked pies would also suffice a birthday celebration and maintain the health of consumers.

2. Is it the cake or the attention that makes a birthday celebration special from a

child’s perspective?

From a child’s view, both the cake and the attention can be influential to making the

birthday special. In my opinion, the attention is everything in a child’s birthday celebration. The

simple things such as the cake, the dress, and the overall party ignites the happiness in children.

For some kids, the cake is everything while for others is just partying. In this context, the cake is

as much important as any other detail of a birthday party for kids.

3. What other factors must be taken into consideration when a family wants to provide

a birthday treat?
 Factors to consider when planning a child’s birthday include the invitations. All kids

want to celebrate their special days with friends. Another thing to consider is the kids request or

rather wish. It is crucial to provide a birthday that the child wants. Presents is another crucial

aspect in a child’s birthday. All kids look forward to celebrate their birthdays, and more

importantly, open gifts. Needless to mention, it might be necessary to consider the social relation

of a child, as most of them would be in a competition of the best party.
