Objectives:
1. Determine Q, H, PI, Po, ηo, Ns and Pm for different discharge at constant speed.
2. Plot characteristics curves for the pump Q vs H, ηm, ηo.
3. Determine the Ns and Pm when operating at maximum ηo.
APPARATUS:
1. Centrifugal Pump with electric motor.
2. Pressure Gauge
3. Steel Tape
Theory:
Input power of the pump (PI) = P.F×PM;

Where, P.F = Power factor (let P.F = 0.8),

Pm = Power of the motor

Total head, H = Delivery head (Hd) + Suction head (Hs) + Datum head (Zs + Zd)

Output power Po = Qγ H

Where, Q = flow rate in (m3/s),

H = Total head (m)

γ = Specific wt. (kg/m3)

Mechanical Efficiency, ηm = Po/PI

Overall Efficiency of the Plant, ηo = Po/Pm(min)

Specific, Ns = NQ1/2/H3/4

Operating Motor Power, PM = Qγ Hmax/ηo(max)

Procedure:
1. Obtain the connection for a single pump
2. Very that the tank has enough fluid level and close completely the discharge valve
3. With the discharge valve, the flow is changed, repeating the previous steps until
finishing with the pump flow range.
4. Note down the values of the discharge and admission pressure for flow established.
5. Represent the values of H vs. Q
6. Obtain the connection in series and repeat the procedure from 2 to 5.
7. Obtain the connection in parallel and repeat the procedure from 2 to 5.

Discussion:

Aim objective of this experiment was to calculate values of centrifugal pump. The
resultant values were not correct enough. This could be the pressure head had
dropped extremely low, which could be seen. This could be due to a miscalculation
during the testing process. This was due to the fluid's friction with the surface. The
flow rate of the fluid was not constant since there may have been a leak in the pipe.
Because the device was fairly old, mechanical error was possible. Because of these
factors, there was a value disparity between theoretical and real value. The trapped
bubbles on the tube's top could not be released or detected.
