Change of sound

Sound changes will occurs when:


1. The meeting between morphemes pe- and me- with base form that starts with
phonemes /d/ and /s/. However, the base forms that come from foreign
language will change /n/ sound into /n/.
Examples:
me- + datang mendatang
me- + survai mensurvei
pe-+ damar. Pedamar
pe- + supply. Pensupply

2)
The meeting between morphemes me- and pe- with the base form that starts
with sounds or phonemes /b/, /f/ will change the sound /n/ into /m/.
Examples:
me- + buru
memburu
me-+ fitnah
memfitnah
pe-+ buang
pembuang
pe-+ fitnah
pemfitnah
3.The meeting between morphemes pe- and me- with the base form that starts
with phonemes /c/, / 1/, the phoneme /n/ will become /n/
Examples:
me-+ cakar
mencakar
me-+ jajal
menjajal
penceramah
pe-+ ceramah
4. The meeting between morphemes me- and pe- with the base form that has
initial sounds /g/, /h/, /x/ and vocals, the phoneme /n/ will become /n/.
Examples:
me-+ garap. Menggarap
me- + hasut menghasut
me-+ khayal mengkhyal
me- + ambil mengambil
me- + intip. Mengintip
me- + ukur. Mengukur

5. The meeting between morphemes ber- and per- with the base form ajar
change the sound /r/. This change is actually a unique one, because only in
the base form of ajar, the sound change like that, so that some experts say this
is an exception.
