WHAT I LEARNT FROM THE TEACHING: SAY TO ARCHIPPUS

TRACK 1
Coming with our rights and privileges in Christ is our responsibilities in Christ and for
Christ.

An important element of the work of the ministry is to make disciples, to make students.
This is similar to a school, where we are enlisted to learn by precept and by example.

I learnt that the gospel of Jesus Christ is like a course curriculum, a course of study, that I
embark upon in a school. Rev. Mark Hankins said we embark upon it to investigate its
details every time. And as I begin to learn of it, I become a student of the gospel.
Discipleship is a grooming. And that’s what our church services are for. And the
fundamental way by which the grooming is done is by teaching, just like it’s done in
schools. The church is a school, where we’re groomed with the word of God.

I also learnt that disciples are known with time, they are those who are learning, and are
imbibing a culture. That one is called a disciple, following the fact that he’s learning.

I learnt further that there’s nothing called believer’s foundation class, where the basics of
Christianity is learnt , but rather the basics of Christianity are the things that we learn
everyday of our Christian life. The pattern we have in the scriptures in Acts 2:42, was that
they continued in the Apostles’ doctrine, in fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in
prayer.

I learnt that in discipleship I begin to learn about the difference between the word of God
and the world. How that as a believer we rule by carrying the cross (sacrifice), not by
Caesar’s sword. We begin to learn about our freedom in Christ, and it’s nature. The
example of the disciples of Jesus was cited, whereby they, who denied Jesus when they
came for him and not even them, could now run towards persecution after they understood
the gospel.

I also learnt that as a disciple of Jesus, I’m going to go through the same experience, Jesus
faced, the persecution and all. Thank you Sir.
