Ambient Loop research part two of two

Task 2/2: Interpret your research to help develop your product (U10:LO1_AC1.2)

Instructions:
1. Answer ALL of these questions. There are five in total.
2. Some are tasks which require collecting images together to form a MOOD BOARD.
3. PROVIDE EXAMPLES for each one of them in the form of URLS and/or images.
4. Explain WHY you have chosen each one (what you like/don’t like: reflection).
5. You will be expected to add small aspects of research to your weekly blog after doing
these sheets.

Question 1/5
Select three genres of ambient music you think your chosen audience could like. Pick your final choice and
say why you chose it.

Specific examples of music URLs (research):

1. Lo Fi
2. Ambient Game Music
3. Jazz

Reason why you like each one (reflection):

1. This is commonly used within Ambient Loops for studying and relaxing and seems to be really liked.
2. Ambient Game Music is actually surprisingly really good and very peaceful sounding usually, adding a lot to
games.
3. Jazz is very classy and enjoyable to listen to usually, good for relaxing and chill environment types of
ambient loops.

Final choice and reason: Ambient Game Music, this is because I believe ambient music such as from Zelda
could work really well within my ambient loop.

Question 2/5
Create a mood board of AT LEAST 3 environment based sets of backgrounds which you like by selecting several images
per setting. Say where you got them from and why you like them. They MUST be from 2d animations.

Environment 1 (research: add URL for each as well as name of artist or work and why you chose it)

1. LINK
I chose this because of the very nice art style and the night time appearance

2. LINK
I chose this as it uses adventure time, A simple but effective style for animation that I like.
3. LINK
I chose this because of the glow effect it uses from the moon, its very nice as you can see it goes to the
water in a way.

Environment 2 (research: add URL for each as well as name of artist or work and why you chose it)

1. LINK
I chose this due to the parts behind the background as I believe they would look good scrolling across the
screen in a ambient loop.

2. LINK
I chose this because I found the style used interesting and thought it could be a good experimental type of
style to use.

3. LINK
I chose this because it kind of reminds me of 2d video game backgrounds which means it could fit with my
chosen music.

Environment 3 (research: add URL for each as well as name of artist or work and why you chose it)

1. LINK
I chose this because the clouds in it would look pretty good in a stop-mo animation I believe.
2. LINK
I chose this because the lighting used in it is very nice looking, furthermore the style is simple and easy to
replicate in my opinion.

3. LINK
I chose this because of the simplistic style and the glare effect, however I believe the glare effect may be an
issue if I tried using this background too.

Final choice and reason:

As stated previously, adventure time is a simple but effective style for animation and I like it, I believe it could
work well with my current idea in mind.

Question 3/5
Create a mood board of AT LEAST 3 character styles which you like by selecting several images per setting. Say where
you got them from and why you like them. They MUST be from 2d animations.

Character type 1 (research: add URL for each as well as name of artist or work and why you chose it)
1.

2.

3.
Adventure Time Style, I chose this style because I believe Adventure Time is a very simple and effective style to
use and this character design is easy to do.

Character type 2 (research: add URL for each as well as name of artist or work and why you chose it)

1.

2.

3.
Spongebob Style, Like the adventure time style, another simple but effective style to use that is easy for me to
do.

Character type 3 (research: add URL for each as well as name of artist or work and why you chose it)
1.

2.

3.
Regular Show Style, this style is more detailed than the other 2 style I believe, but I think it could work with the
background style I have chosen and I also think this style looks nice.

Final choice/style and reason:

Adventure Time Style, this is because as stated previously it is a simple yet effective style. Furthermore, my
background is using adventure time so I believe it would be good to use the style for the characters too for
them to fit.

Question 4/5
Create three mood boards of AT LEAST 3 colour schemes which you might use on your chosen environment/style.
Ideally these would be schemes with a minimum of five colours in each. Say why you like them.

Colour scheme 1 (insert image here)

What you like about this scheme:

What I like about this scheme is the ocean theme/style it has I believe this would go well with my chosen
environment/style due to this and I also like the vibrance.

What you don’t like about it:

What I don’t like about this colour scheme is how similar the colours are, I believe this could make noticing a
difference in them more difficult.

Colour scheme 2 (insert image here)

What you like about this scheme:

What I like about this scheme is the midnight ocean feel it gives, if I go down the route of having my chosen
environment/style be during the night, I believe this colour scheme could work perfectly.

What you don’t like about it:

What I don’t like about this scheme is how dark the midnight blue colour is, I believe that it may be too dark
when used in practice however I’m not certain.

Colour scheme 3 (insert image here)

What you like about this scheme:

What I like about this scheme is how it can be used to create a realistic looking ocean effect on water and the
colours working well together.

What you don’t like about it:

What I don’t like about this scheme is how dark it is, I believe it would be better to use lighter colours within
my chosen environment.

Favourite potential choice for your animation and reason:

My favourite potential choice for my animation is Colour Scheme 2, this is because I believe it could work very
well in my ocean environment especially with the night time feel.

Question 5/5
Create a mood board of AT LEAST 3 post-animation effects which you like by selecting several images per setting. Say
where you got them from and why you like them.

Effect 1 (research: add URL for each as well as name of artist or work and why you chose it)

1. LINK
2. LINK

3. LINK
I like these fire effects and the fire effect because it’s a natural effect that would make sense to use as my
theme is going to be in the ocean at night likely.

Effect 2 (research: add URL for each as well as name of artist or work and why you chose it)

1. LINK

2. LINK

3. LINK
I believe lighting effects would be good within my animation to light up certain areas since it would be during
the night, such as the boat. Furthermore, these lighting effects are good examples and are done through
adobe after effects.

Effect 3 (research: add URL for each as well as name of artist or work and why you chose it)

1. LINK
2. LINK

3. LINK
I believe motion blur/smear effect would be cool to use on the boat I have for my idea of my looping
animation, I could also use it for other things that move too.

Final potential choice for your animation and reason:

I chose this effect as my final potential choice as I believe a fire effect would work wonders within my
animation as the background I had chosen would be at night, so a fire effect on a boat at night would be
amazing.
