STREAMING ANIMATIONS

Loopers, Promo Pods & Slate

January 3, 2024
Underlying Content vs. Filler

Underlying Content Filler

• Type 1 - Station scheduled, run as content

(promos, animations or fake breaks)
• Played in the background of the stream
when going to break • Type 2 – Slate: failsafe animation used to
fill in gaps
• Includes loopers and promo pods
• Crispin – ad ops slate
• Starlite – ad ops slate & failsafe slate

Looper
Recently, markets to replaced the black and white “We’ll Be Right Back” looper animation to
something less redundant.

Looper – Location
Crispin Stations

• Looper animation plays continuously from a device (often a black magic deck with card)

• Should have music bed

• Crispin codes are built to point to this “live” playout

• This is what we see during simulcast preads, breaks & rejoins

• There is also a code to call for this as a failsafe source, if needed

Starlite Stations

• This animation will be used as the “Watch Loop” – found in the

source drop-down menu

Promo Pods
• Video clips of varying lengths used as underlying content during breaks
• Mostly used in wheel, playback or stream-original hours
• Originally called promo pods because they consisted of stitched together promos
• Should now consist of the same animation as the looper
• Cut to desired lengths to match break durations

Slate
Ad Ops Delivered Slate

• Seen during ad breaks and sourced by ad ops

• Should only be seen if joining break in progress or if there is an odd duration that needs to
be filled during a break

• For now, we are keeping the black and white “We’ll Be Right Back” animation as the
adops delivered slate so that we can distinguish between that and the underlying content
served as a source by markets

• Will not have bug and ticker over

• Flag if you see multiple
breaks filled completely or
mostly with this slate

Slate
Starlite stations have multiple slates

• Ad Ops “We’ll Be Right Back” - In addition to scenario in previous slide, this will also be
served in a “permabreak”

• Failsafe slate – this is seen when there is a problem with the stream schedule and we
“go to slate”
