Human-Computer Interaction involves two sides: the Academic and Design

Disciplines. These two disciplines work together and influence each other in such a
way that people may develop solutions that would best benefit their users in the future.

2. The Academic Discipline pertains to studying the way people interact with
computer technology, whilst the Design Discipline focuses on how we can create
interventions that can impact the lives of people.

3. HCI exceeds basic interaction between humans and computers. It is the continuous
study of how our needs and wants can be catered to by evolving technology through
thorough research, backed up by Facts, Analysis, Design, and Attitude of Mind.

4. Real people and users are referred to as “center place”, which pertains to how we
seek to understand people, however different we are from each other.

5. HCI, however, doesn't only stop at analyzing peoples’ behavior, but it also involves how
a computer might be able to perform the task a person wants it to do. By creating
its purpose, we, as people, can determine its function and limitations, as well as whether
these computers are useful and/or usable.
