GENERAL LAB CLEANING

PROCEDURES
SCHOOL OF COMMUNITY AND HEALTH STUDIES
Conduct a visual assessment of lab area and surfaces.
Remove clutter and/or any garbage from surfaces and floor.

Perform hand hygiene and properly don gloves; Proper PPE should be worn
using cleaning chemicals, gloves should be worn to avoid skin irritation.

All surfaces must be cleaned, visible soil removed before using a


disinfectant with provided cleaner.

Items and surfaces must be cleaned from high to low, left to right
(clockwise) and dirty to dirtiest surfaces to avoid cross contamination.

Spray cleaners and disinfectants must be sprayed into a clean cloth not on
the surfaces directly. Clean cloths must remain wet, using 8-fold
technique for each surface, must be changed once all sides are used and
disinfectant saturated cloth has dried.

OR
Use disinfectant wipes provided, using both sides, replace and discard
once it is dry (There are specific disinfectants for different types of
surfaces; each disinfectant has a dwell time before wiping dry, please
refer to manufacturers users’ instructions).

High touch areas are priority, even if those surfaces may not be touched
during lab.

Properly take off gloves and discard in garbage bin provided.

Perform Hand Hygiene.
