Wind

Wind are generated because of the solar radiation is not uniform on the earth
surface. In one part of the earth there is a solar radiation , and the other part
of the earth there is no solar radiation. Solar radiation is keep on changing
with time and date. Therefore this cause different density of air or pressure
difference. And this pressure difference drives the wind.

1. What is the Swept area of a wind turbine with 6 blades that are each 45 meters long?

2. What is the swept area of wind turbine with a rotor diameter of 60 meters?

3. The wind is blowing at 10 meters/second, how much total power is the wind hitting
the turbine if the blades are 45 meters long, assuming the turbine is at sea level?

4. How much more power would the same wind turbine questions 3 if the wind is
blowing 12 meters per second?
Question-1 1. Available Power (of the wind)
2. Theoretical Power (possible
maximum value)
3. Actual power (actual electricity)

1. Calculate the swept area of the turbine blade

2. Calculate the total power contained in the wind source
3. Calculate the available power which can be converted into electricity
1. Available Power (of the wind)

2. Theoretical Power (possible maximum value)

* 0.59

3. Actual power (Actual output power or power can be send to grid)
