Industrial visit at SEBI, New Delhi

ACTIVITY: The industrial visit to SEBI for MBA students is to provide an immersive and practical
learning experience, fostering a deeper understanding of the financial market, regulatory
mechanisms, and investor protection.

Introduction:
The Industrial Visit for MBA 4th semester students took place on 31 st March, 2023, at the Securities &
Exchange Board of India (SEBI) office located on Sansad Marg, New Delhi. The objective of the visit was
to provide students with practical insights into the functioning of SEBI, educate them about investing in the
financial market, and familiarize them with the redressal mechanisms in case of fraudulent activities.
Objective of the Visit:
1. Understanding Financial Markets:
To provide students with practical knowledge about the operations and functioning of SEBI and its role
in regulating the financial markets.
2. Promoting Financial Literacy:
To educate students on the principles of smart investing, risk management, and the importance of
informed decision-making in the financial domain.
3. Introduction to Regulatory Mechanisms:
To familiarize students with SEBI's redressal mechanisms and procedures in case of fraudulent activities,
ensuring an understanding of investor protection.
Execution:
1. Educational Sessions:
The visit commenced with educational sessions where SEBI experts provided comprehensive insights
into the regulatory framework, functions, and responsibilities of SEBI in overseeing the securities market.
2. Interactive Workshops:
Interactive workshops were conducted to engage students actively in discussions on investment
strategies, risk assessment, and the significance of staying informed in the financial market.
3. Redressal Mechanism Presentation:
A dedicated presentation explained the redressal mechanisms available to investors in case of fraud or
malpractice, highlighting SEBI's commitment to safeguarding the interests of market participants.
4. Question and Answer Session:
A Q&A session allowed students to seek clarification on various aspects of SEBI's role, the financial
market, and investor protection, promoting a deeper understanding through direct interaction.
5. Guided Tour:
The visit included a guided tour of SEBI's office, providing students with a firsthand look at the
operational aspects and the working environment of a regulatory body in the financial sector.
Participants:
The industrial visit was attended by 14 students from the MBA 4th semester, accompanied by their Class
Coordinator, Dr. Preeti Jindal, who facilitated coordination and ensured the smooth execution of the visit.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Practical Insights:
Students gained practical insights into the regulatory functions of SEBI, contributing to a better
understanding of the real-world application of financial market principles.
2. Financial Literacy Enhancement:
The visit enhanced students' financial literacy, equipping them with knowledge on smart investing, risk
management, and the skills necessary to make informed decisions in the financial domain.
3. Awareness of Investor Protection:
Introduction to SEBI's redressal mechanisms increased students' awareness of investor protection,
empowering them with knowledge on seeking recourse in case of fraudulent activities.
4. Professional Exposure:
The guided tour provided students with a professional exposure to the working environment of SEBI,
fostering a connection between theoretical knowledge and practical applications.

 The students found the Industrial visit cum Educational Tour relevant, and
knowledgeable.
 This Industrial visit cum Educational Tour was in correlation with the
curriculum.
