Update on the changes
to the land boundary
Cardiff Bay Yacht Club is pleased to update on our proposed land boundary
expansion with Cardiff Council, which would increase our boat yard by 542
meters squared. This proposed change would bring numerous benefits to
our club, allowing us to better cater for our members and provide more
space for our activites. We are confident that this change would be hugely
positive for our club and the opportunities it could create for our members.
We look forward to seeing how this proposed expansion could benefit our
club and our members in the future.

Measures are being implemented to ensure that members' access to the

club remains unaffected during the proposed boundary change process.
History of the Clubhouse
Cardiff Bay Yacht Club has a long and proud history dating back to 1932,
when it began life as the Penarth Motor Boat & Sailing Club. Established by
24 members, the club had its base at the Pilot Hotel in Penarth. In 1947, the
club purchased a house in Glebe Street for £300, which provided a more
permanent base for the club.

In 1958, the club took out a new lease on the Marine Building in Penarth,
which is known today as the Customs House. The new lease allowed the
club to continue to expand, with more and more members joining each
year. In 1970, the club took out a lease on a new site, which provided the
foundation for the club as it is today.

In 1998, the current clubhouse was opened by Her Royal Highness Princess
Anne. This new building provided much needed space for the now
expanding club, with a bar, restaurant, changing rooms and office. The
year 2001 saw the club take a major step forward, when it purchased the
land which is home to the club today.

The Cardiff Bay Yacht Club has come a long way since its humble begin-
nings in 1932. What began as a small club of 24 members has grown into
the thriving community.
The Proposal
Cardiff Bay Yacht Club is proposing an ambitious and exciting redevelop-
ment project. Our vision is to create a luxurious and modern facility that
will provide our members with the very best of amenities.

First off, we plan to create a panoramic sun terrace, providing breathtaking

views of the bay and perfect for outdoor entertainment. We will also be
redesigning and enlarging the changing rooms, allowing our members to
enjoy more space and more comfort.

The Quarterdeck restaurant will be redesigned to create a more modern

look and to allow for a more spacious and comfortable dining experience.
We plan to incorporate modern and stylish furniture and décor that will
create a warm atmosphere.

We also plan to modernize the infrastructure of the club, including the

office, kitchen, storage, lift and more. We aim to make the facility as effi-
cient and comfortable as possible for our members.

Finally, we will be creating a reception/welcome desk at the new entrance,

providing our members with a warm and inviting welcome. We will ensure
that the desk is staffed at all times, so our members can be greeted with a
friendly face.

We are confident that this project will be a success and that our members
will be able to reap.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY
Cardiff Bay Yacht Club is proposing this exciting redevelopment project for
its clubhouse. The club's finances have significantly improved in recent
years, and the pandemic has had a positive impact on its income, helping
to build up healthy cash reserves. The club now has enough resources to
finance the project in full, however, it will be actively pursuing funding and
grants to reduce the direct cost to the club.

The project will include the construction of a panoramic sun terrace, a

redesign of the Quarterdeck restaurant, a redesign and enlargement of the
changing rooms, modernization of the infrastructure including the office,
kitchen and lift, and the creation of a reception/welcome desk at the new
entrance.

The club is confident that the project can be funded with no increase in
fees due to the redevlopment, and is confident that the project will be a
success. The club is committed to providing its members with the best of
amenities, and this project will ensure that our members can enjoy a truly
luxurious experience.

We are confident that the project will bring many benefits to our mem-
bers, and we look forward to bringing this project to fruition.
