1.Pre-Reading

Introduce the new words

Ask questions:
 What does being lucky means to you?
 And bad luck?
(write students’ answers on the board)
 Ask students to give examples from their life when they felt lucky or
had bad luck.
 Do you know what a superstition is? Explain if no, give one or two
examples.
 Ask students to give other examples of superstitions.
 Do you believe in them? Why, why not?
 Why do some people believe in superstitions?
 Introduce the title of the story.
