Reasons why we agree that homework should be banned.

Homework (according to Cambridge dictionary): work that teachers give their students
to do at home.

Homework is such a ubiquitous part of school that it has been there in student’s lives for
so long that thinking of not doing it feels amazing. It’s completely normal for students to
spend extra hours each night, even on weekends, completing projects, reports, and
worksheets.

It is so normalized that it was odd when out of nowhere the president of Ireland
suggested that homework should be banned.

I also think, homework’s effectiveness was marginal or perhaps even counterproductive:

leading to more academic problems than it hoped to solve.
- Teacher may think : giving homework = students understand more and more
about the material cause their studying it again at home
While in reality,
- Homework adding an academic pressure. As far as I saw in reality, teachers
tends to give a score just based on right or not, not the process (ofc, cause obv
they don’t saw it cause were doing it at home) while I do believe that it’s the
process that should be rewarded, not just the result.

And by this, leading to our next argument, which too much of homework leads children
to cheating as they end up copying their friends answer. With the “yaudalah yang
penting gue kerjain dan dapet nilai” mentality, I think that we and the government should
discuss about this and solve it asap.

Conclusion:
Homework can be affective if qualities over quantities; limiting the amount of homework
and improving the qualities of assignments. But, if it stays like this I do think that
homework needs to be banned and just focus on studying at school, cause every
children also have to explore things outside academic and school stuff to improve their
soft skills cause academic is not the only thing that can save you from surviving in this
world; just balancing everything.

1. students already spend approximately eight hours a day. by giving a homework to the
students means that you taking one until two hours children’s relax time, and leaving
them frustrated and exhausted. B
