Interview with Mario Moreno

Interviewer: Hello, it's a pleasure to conduct this interview with Mario

Moreno, who portrayed the iconic role of Cantinflas, very popular on
television. Could you tell us, how was Cantinflas born? How was that
character conceived?

Mario Moreno: Hello, it's a pleasure. Well, it was inspired by a

drunkard I met while working at the Follies theater. His name was
Olegario, and he worked as a janitor.

Interviewer: This defines one of the greatest geniuses of Mexican and

worldwide cinema, a master of pantomime and humor, who always
identified with the people. Cantinflas is a character who always
protests against injustices, who cannot stand injustice, who has
nothing, but wants to do something for someone.

Interviewer: Were there many of you in your family?

Mario Moreno: Yes, there were many of us.

Interviewer: There's a version that says there were twelve, another

says nine, another says eight. Which one is correct?

Mario Moreno: We were fourteen.

Interviewer: But was there never a lack of anything in your house?

Mario Moreno: No, never a lack, nor an excess.

Interviewer: But... where does the name Cantinflas come from, Mr.
Mario Moreno?

Mario Moreno: What matters is that when I decided and already

dressed my character, I myself put the name on, and I put it so they
wouldn't put my real name in the theater, so that my family wouldn't
find out that I was in that environment.
Interviewer: Was there ever a moment when you felt that Cantinflas
had become a part of you?

Mario Moreno: Cantinflas was always an extension of myself. The line

between Mario Moreno and Cantinflas sometimes blurred, especially in
front of the audience.

Interviewer: Well, it has been enlightening hearing your insights, Mr.

Moreno. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
Interview with Slash

Interviewer: Welcome everyone to the Rock FM program, where we

interview rock stars. Today we’re joined by our mysterious guest, the
famous guitarist of GondRouses, Slash.

Interviewer: Ok Slash, how have you been?

Slash: Really good, thank you. I'm glad you invited me to your
program.

Interviewer: Very good, thank you for joining us. I have a question for
you, what is the real reason why they call you Slash?

Slash: This was the nickname that Seymour Cassel used to call me. I
was, and continue to be, a great friend of his son, Matt, so I used to
visit his house and Seymour would always call me Slash. Basically, he
says it was because I was always in a hurry and trying to figure out
something new.

Interviewer: Do you really know Seymour Cassel?

Slash: Yes, it's nice.

Interviewer: Hey, do you think you could tell us a little more about your
life?

Slash: When I was little, my father and mother divorced. But I decided
to go live with my mother since it was easier, and I avoided as many
problems as the ones I had with my father. But the only thing I didn't
count on was that my mother was going to be traveling very often and
the only one who took care of me was my grandmother.

Interviewer: And how come you're so good at playing the guitar?

Slash: Well, it was something curious because my friend Duff

McKagan and I planned to form a band and he told me to practice the
bass and he would take care of the guitar, but when I went to a cultural
house to learn to play the bass. My teacher taught me how to play
guitar based on one of the songs that I loved so much from my favorite
rock band. And when I heard him playing that song, I said this is what I
want to learn to play.

Interviewer: Well, it was a pleasure to meet you Slash, and to have

had you on our program.
