THINGS I KNOW

AT 45 THAT
I WISH
I KNEW AT 25
OWN
YOUR SH!T
Unless you win the lottery, nobody
will hand you $1 million.

You have to own your life:

Know what you want

Understand what it takes
Do the work. Day in. Day out
BE
CURIOUS
The world is large.

It has so much to offer.

Get out of your comfort zone.

Try new things and push your

boundaries.
TRAVEL
Traveling is exciting and one of the
most life-changing activities you
will do.

When you explore the world, you:

expand your mind

increase your creativity, and
appreciate different people and
cultures.
START YOUR DAY
OFF RIGHT
Develop a routine.

Your routine:

Exercise
Meditate
Drink water
Read a book
Get outside in the sun

Do whatever brings you joy in the

morning.
GET
FIT
You only have one life.

You are only given one body.

It is incredible that you abuse it

without thought.

You don't put in the effort to get the

most out of what you have.
MEDITATE

Every single day.

Take a moment to breathe.

You are so connected to the online

world.

You need to take a moment to

disconnect.

To still your mind, your thoughts, and

your emotions.
DRINK
WATER
Water is vital to your health.

In much of the world, it's free to drink.

Instead of pouring a bowl of sugar

down your throat, drink water
instead.
READ
BOOKS
Knowledge is power.

When you read, you can stand on the

shoulders of giants.

Most of the knowledge in the world is

in books, and it can be free.

Set a target of reading 20 to 30 pages

per day.
GET
OUTSIDE
Superman was powered by the sun,
and so are you.

Getting out in the sun in the early

morning will improve your mood and
your sleep cycle.
CONTROL
YOUR MIND
You have more than 35,000 thoughts
per day.

How many of those thoughts do you

get caught up in?

How many of them are accurate?

Mark Twain said, I have been through

some terrible things in my life, some
of which actually happened.
CONTROL
EMOTIONS
Your partner did not make you
unhappy or angry.

You did.

Choose your emotions, thoughts,

and reactions.

"Between stimulus and response,

there is a space. In that space is our
power to choose our response. In our
response lies our growth and our
freedom."
FOCUS ON THE
PRESENT MOMENT
The past is gone.

The future hasn't happened.

You can only change this moment.

Right here. Right now.

When you focus on the present

moment, you increase your ability to
control your thoughts and emotions.
SMILE
When you smile, your brain releases
serotonin, the happy drug.

Smiling is a natural way to make

yourself happy, so turn that frown
upside down.
RELAX
Work is important.

Work is not your life.

Take a breath. Slow down.

Live your life.

Have a little fun in life and reward

yourself for the wins.
FORGIVE
Holding a grudge is heavy work.

It weighs you down, mentally and

physically.

Learning to forgive, and let go, is a

tremendous power that will move you
forward in life.
MAKE A GOOD
FIRST IMPRESSION
You only get one chance at a first
impression, make it a good one.

Work on a strong, firm handshake.

Practice making consistent eye
contact.

Learn to use someone's name and

make small talk.
REMEMBER
PEOPLE’S NAMES
If you want to make a good
impression, remember people's
names.

There is no word a person loves to

hear spoken more than their own
name.

Repeat their name in your head

multiple times when you hear it and
try to use it three times in the
conversation.
BE
HONEST
Three things cannot be hidden for
long:

The sun, the moon, and the truth.

When you are known as someone

who is trustworthy and acts with
integrity, you will have more
opportunities in life.
CHOOSE YOUR
FRIENDS WISELY
You are the sum of the people you
surround yourself with.

Your network will determine your net

worth: mentally, physically and
financially.

Surround yourself with people that

make you better in each of these
areas.
TRUST
PEOPLE
Some people live without extending
trust.

Some people trust easily.

While you may get burned by

extending trust, you will live a more
fulfilling life.

There is a floor on getting burned

without extending trust, but there's
also a ceiling on your potential.
FIND YOUR
PURPOSE
The Japanese use a concept called
Ikigai, these seek to understand:

What do you love?

What are you good at?
What does the world need?
What will people pay you for?
DO WHAT
YOU LOVE
Use Ikigai to understand how you can
do what you love.

When you do what you love, you will

never work a day in your life.

There is a huge difference between

making a life and making a living.

Make a life.
GET GOOD AT
SOMETHING
If you aren't good at something yet,
get to work:

Read books
Watch YouTube
Take online classes

Between the library, YouTube, Twitter

and the Internet, there are no excuses
anymore.

You can learn how to be good at

anything you love.
LOVE IS
WHAT MATTERS
This is what matters.

If you can lead from a place of love,

you will be seen as a true leader.

Whether a friend, family or an enemy,

learn to interact from love.
