POLARIZED PLUGS -To reduce the risk of electric
shock, this equipment has a polaiied plug (one pin
is wider than the other). This equipment must be used
with a suaable polar zed 2 wre or 3 wire extension cord.
Polarized connections will fit together only one way.
Make sure that the receptacle endof the extension wrd
has large and small pin slot widths. If the plug does
not fit fully into the extension cord, reverse the plug. If it
still does not fit, obtain a suitable extension wrd. If the
ehtension cord does nor fit fully into the outlet, contact a
qualified electrician to install the proDer outlet. Do not
change the tool plug or extension cord in any way.

depending on how often you do this type of work. To
redoce your exposure, work in a weil-ventilated area

Connecting Hand-held Hedge Trimmer or Pole Hedge Trimmer

1. Push the release latch backwards located on the

top of the trigger housing and slide the housing
downwards.

2. Connect the trigger housing with the telescope

pole or directly with the motor housing. The release
latch should snap in and lock both parts securely
together.

OPERATION: POLE HEDGE TRIMMER

O w A R N I N G : Read and understand this

owners manual before operating Hedge Trimmer.
Make certain you read and understand ail Safety
Warnings of this manual. Improper use of this
Hedge Trimmer can result in severe injury or
death from flre, electric shock, or body contact
with moving parts.

Pivoting the Power Head

The Pole Hedae Trimmer is eauipped with a power
head that pivois. The power heab'has a spring-loaded
button that allows it to be locked into six positions
within its 150 -degree rotation. Before connecting the
Pole Trimmer to the electrical supply, make sure the
power head is locked into position. Do this by trying to
rotate the power head in either direction. The power
head should be locked in position and should not
rotate. To pivot the power head, follow the instructions
below.
3. Release the round button. It should
snap back into its seated position. If it does
not, rotate the power head back and forth
until the button back into its
seated position. The power head is now
locked into position and ready for use.

is spring-loaded, so you will feel some Adjustable Angles
resistance.

ADJUSTING TELESCOPIC POLE
Disconnect the pole trimmer from the power supply.
Rotate the collar counterclockwise to loosen.
Push poles towards each other to shorten the pole or
pull away from each to lengthen the pole.
Note: Extend the pole only to the length required to
reach the cut hedges or shrubs.
When the desired length is achieved, rotate the collar
clockwise to secure.
A W A R N I N G : Do not allow familiarity with this type
of product to make you careiess. Remember that a
careless fraction of a second is sufficient to inflict
serious injury.
TRIMMING INSTRUCTIONS
1. EXTENSION CORD -Always keep extension cord
behind trimmer and awav from the trimming o~eration
Never drape it over a hebge being trimmed. lfyou cut
or damage the card, unplug it at the electrical outlet
immediately, before Inspecting or repairing card.
You may also place the extension cord in the cord
retainer.Form a loop in extension cord and push
the loop through the hole in the rear handle.
Position the loop over the cord retainer and pull
back to secure. Connect power cord of unit to
extension cord.

STARTING THE TRIMMER

The Trigger housing has a iock- off button located

at the left side handle. This safety feature locks the
trigger in the OFF position, preventing accidental
starting of the Pole Trimmer.
Push the lock- off button (1) in with your thumb and
then squeeze the switch trigger (2) with your
fingers. (Once the tool is running, you can release
the lock- off button.) To turn the tool OFF, release

USING THE POLE HEDGE TRIMMER

To use the Pole Hedge Trimmer for trimming tall,

hard-to-reach hedges or shrubs, hold the Trimmer at
the positions shown. Pivot the power head to several
different positions to shape or sculpt shrubs or hedges.

A CAUTION: Blade coasts after turned off.

Do not use under wet condition.
Do not use with damaged extension cord.
Do not unplug or store with switch locked on.

hedges or shrubs, hold the Pole Trimmer at the
positions as shown.
To use the Pole Trimmer for trimming the
bottoms and sldes of hedges and shrubs, hold
the Pole Trimmer at the positions as shown.
To use the Pole Trimmer for trimming low- lying
foliage or ground cover, hold the Pole Trimmer
at the position as shown.

TRIMMING INSTRUCTIONS-
Handheld Hedge Trimmer
LEVEL HEDGES - To obtain exceptionally level
hedges, a piece of string can be stretched along
the length of the hedge as a guide.
TRIMMING NEW GROWTH -Awide,sweeping
motion, feeding the blade teeth through the twigs is
most effective. A siight downward tilt of the blade,
in the direction of motion gives the best cutting.

I CAUTION: Do not use the 18 inch trimmer for cutting
stems greater than 314".
Use the trimmer only for cutting normal shrubbery
found around houses and buildings.
SIDE-TRIMMING HEDGES - Begin at the bottom
and sweep up.
Do not force theTrimmer through dense growth.
A siight back and forth sawing action may ease
tha cutting of iarger, more danse growth. if the
Trimmer begins to slow down, reduce the rate of
speed at which you are trying to cut. If the
Trimmer becomes jammed, immediately turn
Trimmer off. Disconnect Trimmer from the power
supply and remove the jammed debris from the
cutter blades.
Do not try to cut branches larger than 314 inch in
diameter.
 I MAINTENANCE
If you drop the trimmer, carefully inspect it for damage.
If the blade Is bent, housing cracked, or handles bro~en
or if you see any other condition that may affect the
trlmmer's operation, call our customer seivice help
line at 1-800-313-5111 for assistance.

LUBRICATE BLADES Stop the unit and disconnect
the power cord. Then remove any debris on blades.
Apply a light machine oil along the edge of the top
and bottom straps. Make sure handles remain clean
and dry.
