• Enter in the menu «Calibration Gen…», here below is represented the menu mask:
• The mA values to be calibrated are listed on field 1, marked in the below reported picture.
mA value to set
• On next page has been reported the reference mA measures calibration values numbers charts for each Jolly Plus
model.
• To set the mA measure number, touch the related measures list displayed on field 1, marked in the below reported
pictures.
To change the meausure number uses the two arrow keys, marked with nr. 2 on the below reported picture.
To confirm the selection press the «Enter», marked with nr. 3 on the below reported picture.
Note:
In the «Calibration Gen…» menu the initials SF and LF means respectively the small and the large focus of the X-ray
tube.

• Make a radiographic exposure, respecting the three sequential commands are visualized on Status field of the
«Calibration Gen…» menu:
• Pause ⇒ the equipment software does not allow to make any radiographic exposures.
• Not ready ⇒ depress the X-ray push button 1st time – preparation.
• Ready ⇒ depress the X-ray push button 2nd time - exposure.
• After having taken each radiographic exposure, verify on the oscilloscope display that both kV and mA wave forms are
display as below reported, for example:
Channel 2: 40 mA
Channel 1: 100 kV
• Verify «Calibration Gen…» menu that the mA value displayed on the field «Max», marked with nr 1 on the below
reported picture, corresponds to the reference value.
The allowance admitted is ± 2%.
• To eventually adjust the mA value touch the field «Set Point», marked with nr 2 on the below reported picture.
Increase or decrease the Set Point value using the two arrow keys, marked with nr 3 on the below reported picture.
To confirm touch the «Enter» button, marked with nr 4 on the below reported picture.
• Take at least two radiographic exposures, as above mentioned, in order to verify if the mA value displayed is correct.
• To terminate the calibration procedure press the icon «Finish» marked with nr 5.
• Wait till the software returns in “operator mode”.
• Switch OFF the equipment and after at least 30 second switch it ON.

After having pressed the icon touch calibration icon, a dark window with has visualized. In this windows on left-up side
has been reported a cross pointer which allows the technician to re-calibrate the touch screen display.
Here below is shown the dark window where has been pointed out the cross pointer.
Cross pointer
The cross pointer moves automatically on clockwise direction, reaching step by step 5 positions in total.
For each position the technician should press the cross pointer, then the cross pointer moves to the next position
automatically, till ending the procedure. Here below is shown the position of the 5 cross pointers on the display.
Pos. 1 Pos. 2
Pos. 5
Pos. 4 Pos. 3
After having pressed the cross pointer 5th position the software closes automatically the calibration window, returning on
the Set Up menu mask.
If the touch re-calibration procedure does not solve the malfunction, please get in contact with the BMI Service
department.
In case of the touch screen does not work for a failure there is also the possibility to connect to the display CPU
electronic board a PS/2 mouse, in order to continue to use the equipment.
To reach the display CPU board the technician should unscrew all the screws on the lower control console perimeter and
then detach it.
The electronic board is mounted below the touch screen display. In the below reported picture, has been pointed out
where the PS/2 mouse connector is located.

Maintenance
ORDINARY AND EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY DULY TRAINED TECHNICAL PERSONNEL AUTHORIZED BY
THE MANUFACTURER.
The equipment requires periodical checking and maintenance to assure correct operation and safety standards.
Following information and instructions are therefore to be strictly complied with:
• A prolonged utilization of the equipment may affect the system safety due to the quick wear of the mechanical and
electronic components.
• The correct set up of the electronic and mechanical components and of the software can prevent failures that could
affect the safety and the irradiation exposure level to which the doctors, the paramedics and the patients are exposed.
• The owner of the equipment is responsible for the maintenance correct execution and is expected to have preventive
checking and technical interventions carried out by expressly authorized technical personnel.
The below reported chart illustrates the scheduled inspections to be carried out:
PERIOD: CHECKING:
DAILY • Check the correct functionally of the two exposure buttons on control console
CHECKING • Check the correct functionally of the hand switch remote control
• Check the correct functionally of the collimator
• Check the wearing status of the supply cable and its plug
• Check the parking brakes breaks functionality
WEEKLY • Check if during the X-ray emission no noise is coming out from the monobloc
CHECKING • Check the functioning of the optional installed (e.g. the DAP measuring chamber)
• Check if the arm retainer works properly (see note A here below)
SIX-MONTHLY • Carry out the periodic electric safety tests, according to the rules in force
CHECKING • Check the fastening and the functioning (dust and corrosion) of the electronics boards
• Check if there is any dielectric oil leakage coming out from the monobloc (see note B here
below)
• Check the X-ray tube wear (see note C here below)
• Check the good operation of the equipment’s parking brakes (see note D here below)
• Check the alignment of the luminous field with the radiographic field (see paragraph 4.1.2)
• Check the balancing of the arm (see note E here below)
• Check the balancing of the fork-monobloc assembly (see note F here below)
YEARLY • Check the kV values really emitted during X-ray exposure (see paragraph 4.1.3)
CHECKING • Check the mA values really emitted during X-ray exposure (see paragraph 4.1.4)
• Check the wearing status of the interface cables between the equipment and the monobloc
• Check the wearing status of the frontal and rear wheels
• Check visually the wearing condition of the steel-clad ropes, their pulleys and the related
mechanical elements (see note G here below)
• Lubricate the steel-clad ropes with mineral grease
• Check the integrity of the warning labels
FIVE-YEARLY • Replace the steel-clad ropes and the mechanical equalizer
CHECKING • Replace the clutch and the pulleys
• Replace the front and rear wheels
Before proceeding to replace one of the above listed components get in contact with
BMI - Service Department, in order to receive the related technical information together with the
spare parts.
On next page the notes list of the ordinary maintenance interventions, requiring additional technical information:
“X-ray window”
• Check if there are any dielectric oil spots on the “X-ray window” and on the collimator plane.
• Reassemble the item previously detached or unwired.
• If the result of the test is negative send the monobloc to the manufacturer to be repaired or replaced.
“X-ray window”
• Check through the “X-ray window” the wearing status of the X-ray tube anode.
• Reassemble the item previously detached or unwired.
• If the result of the test is negative send the monobloc to the manufacturer to be repaired or replaced.

Point C Point A
Point E
Point B
• Adjust at the same time the brakes stretch screws (see illustration below – detail A) screwing them half turn per time,
them in the same way.
• Grip the transportation handle and release two times the stationary brakes in order to evaluate if the brakes adjusting
has been done correctly.
• Without releasing the stationary brakes, push manually the equipment verifying that it does not move.
• Verify that each brake sliding block is placed 1 mm away from the wheel.
