TAC‐3000 RANGE LIMITING DEVICE “BYPASS” AUTHORIZATION PROTOCOL

This protocol is applicable for all sites where a TAC‐3000 RANGE LIMITING DEVICE is
installed and requires to be BYPASSED for operational or maintenance purposes. It is the
responsibility of the crane supervisor to manage this document as well as the “BY‐PASS”
key and review the scope of work with all involved prior to issuing this authorization.

The TAC-3000 RANGE LIMITING DEVICE “BY-PASS KEY” is provided to allow the
below identified crane to be “BYPASSED” to allow for the following operations:

Maintenance on crane equipped with TAC-3000;

Maintenance on lower adjacent crane;
Requirement to perform a critical lift as defined by applicable Regulation
where another crane is required in proximity;
Requirement to access a specific area normally not permitted*.

*Ensure appropriate alternative protection means are in place and all applicable
Rules and Regulations are respected.

This Protocol provides authorization for the following crane to be temporarily

switched into “BYPASS” mode:

Crane Site ID:

Task Description:

Description “WHY” the system requires to be run into “BYPASS”:

In order to turn the System in “BYPASS”, a key must be provided to the operator
by site Management. The key requires to be inserted in the monitor in the cab
and turned ¼ of a turn to the right. A “BYPASS” status will now be indicated on
the top left corner of the screen. Audible and visual warnings will remain active

but the system will not take any action to slow or stop the crane while in the
“BYPASS” mode.

It is to be noted that while the crane is in “BYPASS” mode, a strobe installed

under the counter jib of the crane will be flashing and is intended to advise
underneath management that the protection status of the crane is now “OFF”.

By default, the crane will return to “NORMAL” state within 60 minutes even
though the key may still be physically in the “BYPASS” position. This means that
the operator requires to turn the system back to “NORMAL” by turning the key to
its original position and then turn it ¼ of a turn to the right again to resume
“BYPASS” mode if required.
