Light of Midnight

Sharp claws; sharp teeth; sharp senses.

This monster was a beast. Its face, lit by its large evil red eyes, was
something out of a horror film with its crooked nose and its pointy
chin. Its posture, so upright it was unnatural, added to effect of its
towering height which was 14ft, double the size of two tall men.
There were legends about this monstrosity, that it roamed a small
forest, only coming out at midnight. Many had ventured to kill or see
it but none had ever returned. Over many years the creature lost its
popularity until nobody knew it even existed. But there it was,
thriving in a small forest, hid where no one would ever see it, the
most dangerous animal on earth. Its name was John Bates.

Derek Longlegs was a poor man. Not by money I mean, though he

wasn’t high on that either. But he had nothing to do, nothing to chat
and nothing to look forward to. He was desperate. He had read all
the magazines, all the books in the library. What Derek needed was a
friend.
Another ordinary had passed and Derek had enough, he was going
to… anywhere he thought. One more day in this flat, he would crack.
Derek jumped up from his comfy bed and sprinted to the kitchen, got
breakfast then switched on the TV or tried to (he clicked every
button till it worked!!!) “Reporting breaking news- at 5am this
morning, hell broke out 8am in Halsbury, a beast, long since
forgotten began a riot attacking and killing the innocent people.
Around 13 are being reported missing or killed. Boris Winger states
`it was a manic panic, screams echoed off buildings. I knew I was
going to die, then as suddenly as it had appeared it was gone.
Rumour has it its name is John Bates` “Derek switched off the TV he
was going out.
John Bates through himself into the forest; for he had, had his kill of
the day.
Heart pounding, Derek jumped in his car, this was most excitement
he’d had since was 20. He jammed the keys into his Porsche, did the
convertible roof and… off he went. Halsbury forest he was headed
though he didnt have any plans he was sure that he would make his
mind when he got there, all he knew was; he was going to see John
