Have you got a smartphone? If so, you’re one of over
3.5 billion people around the world who use them.
China, India and the USA are the top smartphone
users. Plus, over 1.14 million people have got tablets.
In the USA, a typical teen spends 9 hours a day using
screens, and over 7 of those hours on their
smartphone. Some teens are on their phones for up to
10 hours!
What do people use most on their phones? Apps. In
fact, Americans spend up to 88% of their time on apps
– and there are millions to choose from. Google Play
has got over 2.8 million apps and Apple has got over
1,960,000.
Think of the 3 Fs when choosing an app. A great app is:
1 FAST Today, we can’t wait for a slow app to load –
we’re too busy!
2 FRIENDLY If it’s difficult to download or use, it’s
no good. An app needs to be ‘friendly on the eye’, so
images on the screen are clear and attractive. Lastly,
friendly apps are safe to use.
3 FREE Look for apps that are free or cheap. Many
people can’t, or don’t want to, pay lots of money. Most
people choose ones that don’t cost anything.
The best apps get prizes from Google and Apple, so
look at these top apps to help you choose.
