Class Discussion

Who should be responsible for housework: wife or husband? Why?

Sharing home duties is a personal choice that should ideally be based on partners
talking to each other and agreeing on what needs to be done. The dynamics,
beliefs, and situations of each couple are different, so there is no one answer that
works for all of them. Gender roles have changed over time, and many couples
now want both partners to do a similar amount of housework.

People in a relationship should talk about and agree on what they want, taking
into account things like work plans, personal tastes, and each person's skills. Some
might find it useful to split up chores based on who is good at them or how much
time they have. Some people might like a more egalitarian approach, in which
everyone shares the same duties.

In the end, it's important that both partners are happy with how the housework is
split and how it meets their needs. Being open and honest with each other, being
flexible, and being ready to change can help you reach an agreement that works
for both of you.
