CONDITIONS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF RESIDENCE IN THE HOSTELS

Before a student can get a room in the hostel, he or she has to be a registered student for that academic year and has been cleared to pay for
accommodation. This means the student is fully bound by the already existing HALL OF RESIDENCE RULES as well as the STUDENT
DISCIPLINE RULES. Over and above these, a student in residence will be required at all time to abide by the following rules failure of
which she/he has to pay a fine:
1. A student shall at all times conduct him/herself in a manner that respect his/ her roommates and other students’ peaceful enjoyment
of their neighboring premises.
2. Squatting is PROHIBITED and will result in forfeiture of accommodation upon discovery.
3. Visits by student to opposite sex hostels & rooms is prohibited. Indecent behavior e.g. kissing in public and having sex in
University premises (grounds, classrooms and any other place within campus) is prohibited.
4. At all times students should maintain reasonable quietness, do not sing while bathing or doing laundry, do not shout through
windows and use ear phones when playing music/video on phone because the premises are primarily meant for studies.
5. A student shall exercise responsibility in the use of electricity and other shared facilities, such as bathrooms, laundry rooms etc.
6. A student shall keep his/ her room and hostel environment clean and neat at all time.
7. All students are expected to dress for the occasion. The lecture rooms, the dining hall, the chapel and official functions should be
attended by students in smart casual and professional attire.
8. Cooking in the halls of residence in whatever form, is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. A student who is caught cooking and or in
possession of cooking appliances such as hot plates, microwaves, toasters, refrigerator, electric heater, air conditioners, rice cookers,
etc., shall be instantly dismissed from the hostels. Students are allowed to boil water in their electric jugs & to iron in the laundry
room.
9. A student shall co-operate with Sub-wardens and any staff assigned to inspect his/her room for whatever reason.
10. A student shall pay the full replacement cost for any damage to or loss of university property. If all occupants cannot identify the
cause of the loss or damage, all of them will be held responsible.
11. A student shall secure his/her personal property by locking up valuables in the wardrobe before leaving the room and securing
insurance if need be as the university does not ensure personal property. It is advisable to keep a record of serial numbers and other
identifying marks for valuable property.
12. A student shall follow all check in and out procedures as specified in memoranda and notices at the beginning and end of each
semester.
13. A Student who owns a vehicle shall register it with Dean of Students office every semester.
14. A student shall park his/ her vehicle at designated car parks only. Parking in the immediate environment of halls of residence is
strictly prohibited.
15. Hanging/ drying of clothing items on window sills and curtain rails is strictly prohibited.
16. Sticking of posters, pictures and other materials on the wall, wardrobes, and doors is not allowed.
17. A student is required to attend all monthly block meetings.
18. Non-resident/ strangers are prohibited from accessing halls of residence.
19. The last person to leave the room should lock the room and submit the room keys at the guard room every time a student is leaving
the hostel.
20. All student are not allowed to smoke, drink or bring drugs on campus and in their rooms. Any suspicious drunken behavior should
be reported to the warden or sub-warden or security.
21. We are a Christian institution, high standards of morality are expected, including attendance in the chapel on Wednesdays for
Church service and announcements.
