Introduction
IPMAT or IPM Aptitude Test is a national level test conducted by the Indian Institute of
Management Indore, Rohtak, Ranchi, Jammu and Bodh Gaya for admission to their
five-year Integrated Management Programme. This UG-level management entrance test is
conducted in an online mode. The number of seats in the programme range from 120 to 180
depending on the institute and the year .The number of candidates also vary every year
depending on the demand.

The programme consists of 15 terms spread over a period of five years, consisting of three
terms of 3 months each. The first three years build a foundation and the last two years focus
on management. As part of the programme, the IPM students are required to complete a
social internship at the end of third year. In addition to the Social Internship, IPM students do
a business internship along with the PGP students between the fourth and fifth year.

IPMAT Eligibility: Students who have passed the higher secondary examination or
equivalent exam from a recognized board can apply for IPMAT. A minimum of 60% and
55% marks in aggregate for the general and reserved category candidates respectively is
required at the HSC/ Standard 12 level or equivalent. Candidates who are likely to
complete HSC/standard XII or equivalent by June 30 of the exam year can also apply. The
age limit for general and NC-OBC Category applicants must not be more than 20 years as
on July 31 of the exam year. For SC/ST and reserved category candidates, the maximum
age limit is 22 years. Mathematics is not mandatory in 10+2.

IPMAT Application Procedure: Candidates whowish to apply for IPMAT have to fill the
online application form by visiting the official website of the respective IIMs. The
registration process usually begins in the third week of April and ends by the fourth week of
May. Candidates have to create a user ID and password and log in with the given
credentials to fill the form. The application fee for IPMAT varies depending on the category
of the candidates. The application fee for General/NC-OBC candidates is Rs.4130+GST
and for SC/ST/PwD candidates is Rs.2065+GST. The application fee may change from
year to year. Candidates also have to upload the scanned copies of all required documents
along with the application form as per the guidelines given in the information brochure.

IPMAT Exam Pattern: IPMAT is a computer-based test, consisting of 100 questions to be


completed in two hours (120 minutes). The exam pattern of IPMAT has three sections:
Quantitative Ability (Multiple Choice Questions), Quantitative Ability (Short Answer
Questions) and Verbal Ability (Multiple Choice Questions). Each question carries 4 marks
and there is a negative marking of 1 mark for each incorrect answer. The number of
questions and the time duration for each section may vary depending on the institute
conducting the exam.

IPMAT Admit Card: The admit card for IPMAT is issued by the respective IIMs a few weeks
before the exam date. It is a proof of registration for the candidates as only those who have
successfully completed the application process will be able to download the IPMAT admit
card. The admit card contains important details such as the candidate’s name, roll number,
exam center, exam date and time, and instructions for the exam. Candidates have to carry a
printout of the admit card along with a valid photo ID proof to the exam venue.

IPMAT Result: The officials announce the outcome of IPMAT which is the test result in the
form of a merit list of selected candidates after the exam. The IPMAT result can be checked
online by logging in with the candidate’s credentials. The final selection list of IPM Aptitude
Test will be based on the performance in the written test and personal interview. Selected
candidates then have to appear for the personal interview rounds at the respective IIMs. The
dates and venues of the personal interview rounds will be communicated to the candidates
through email or SMS.

IPMAT Selection Procedure: The candidates who score above the cutoff as released by
the respective IIMs after the exam result will be shortlisted for Personal Interview (PI). The
candidates will be selected on the basis of their overall performance in the Aptitude Test and
PI. The selection process may vary depending on the institute conducting the exam. Some
institutes may also conduct a video assessment test instead of a written ability test. The
selection process is done in five stages: registration, aptitude test, video assessment (if
applicable), personal interview, and final merit list.

IPMAT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The Eligibility Criteria of IPMAT is officially prescribed by the exam conducting body – the
respective IIMs. According to the Eligibility Criteria of IPMAT, candidates who have
completed or are appearing for Class XII/higher secondary exam from a recognized board or
equivalent can appear for the test. The minimum percentage of marks required in Class
XII/higher secondary exam varies depending on the category of the candidates.

For General/NC-OBC candidates, the minimum percentage is 60%, while for SC/ST/PwD
candidates, it is 55%. Candidates also have to meet the age limit criteria, which is 20 years
for General/NC-OBC candidates and 22 years for SC/ST/PwD candidates as on July 31 of
the year of admission. Candidates who satisfy these criteria can apply for the test and
participate in the admission process.

Other Eligibility Guidelines for IPMAT:


● Candidates who are likely to complete standard XII/ HSC or equivalent by the end of June
30 of the year of admission can also apply, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria as
mentioned above. If selected, such candidates will be offered admission to the programme
provisionally. At the time of registration for the programme, such candidates must have to
produce Standard X and XII marksheet (securing minimum marks i.e. 60% for General and
NC-OBC or 55% for SC, ST and PwD) along with school leaving certificate/migration
certificate, failing which the candidate’s provisional admission offer will stand cancelled.

● The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Standard X and XII would be
calculated based on the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the mark sheet/grade
sheet, irrespective of the Board’s regulation. In case the candidates are awarded letter
grades or grade points instead of marks, the conversion of grades to percentage of marks
would be based on the procedure certified by the Board/Competent Authority explaining the
method of conversion from where they have obtained the certificate.

● Applicants pursuing their Standard X and/or XII from international schools affiliated to
foreign boards like IGCSE (International General Certificate for Secondary Education) and IB
(International Baccalaureate) can also apply.

How to Fill IIM Indore IPMAT Application Form:
● Eligible candidates have to first visit the official website of the
respective IIMs.
● Click on the registration link of IPMAT. Fill in basic details such as
name, email ID, phone number and date of birth to register online.
● After the registration part is complete, fill in other required details
such as personal details, educational details, contact details etc. in
the online form.
● Candidates have to re-login using the login credentials.
● Applicants must provide correct details as after the registration
process, these cannot be changed
● Pay the application fee. The application fee varies depending on the
category of the candidates. The application fee for General/NC-OBC
candidates is Rs.4130+GST and for SC/ST/PwD candidates is
Rs.2605+GST. The application fee may change from year to year.
● Please note that candidates belonging to NC-OBC, SC, ST and
PWD/DA categories need to submit valid and attested certificates in
support of their reservation category.
● The application fee has to be paid in online mode only through

What after filling and submitting the IPMAT Application Form


Once you are done with the form and fee submission, you have to download the IPMAT
Admit Card which will be available a few weeks before the exam date. The admit card or hall
ticket is an important document, as without it you will not be able to appear in the IPMAT
test. The admit card contains your name, roll number, exam center, exam date and time, and
instructions for the exam. You have to carry a printout of the admit card along with a valid
photo ID proof to the exam venue. You can download the admit card from the official website
of the respective IIMs by logging in with your credentials.

IPMAT ADMIT CARD

IPMAT Admit Card Pointers


● Candidates must carry the printed copy of the admit card to the exam center. The admit
card will have a barcode that will be scanned at the entry gate. No candidate will be allowed
to enter the exam hall without the admit card.
● Candidates must also carry a valid photo identity proof along with the admit card. The
identity proof can be any of the following: Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID Card, Passport,
or Driving License. The name and date of birth on the identity proof must match with those
on the admit card.
● Mobile phones, calculators, watches, or any other electronic devices are strictly prohibited
inside the exam hall. Candidates must not carry any paper, notes, books, or any other
material to the exam hall. Any violation of these rules will lead to disqualification and
cancellation of candidature.
● Candidates must follow the instructions given by the invigilators and adhere to the
COVID-19 safety guidelines such as wearing a mask, maintaining social distance, and
sanitizing hands frequently. Candidates must also bring their own water bottles, pens, and
pencils to the exam hall.
● Candidates must report to the exam center at least one hour before the scheduled time of
the exam. Latecomers will not be allowed to take the test. Candidates must also verify their
seat number and computer system before starting the test.

IPMAT EXAM PATTERN
IPMAT Exam Pattern IIM Indore conducts IPMAT in online mode every year. The total
duration of the test is two hours (120 minutes). The test consists of three sections:
Quantitative Ability-MCQ, Quantitative Ability-SA, and Verbal Ability. The sections are
time-bound, and the duration of each section is 40 minutes. There are 40 questions in
Quantitative Ability-MCQ and Verbal Ability, and 20 questions in Quantitative Ability-SA.

IPMAT Marking Scheme


● Each question carries four marks.
● There is a negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer in the MCQ sections.
There is no negative marking for the SA section.

IPMAT Exam Pattern Guidelines


● The entrance exam is conducted in computer-based mode.
● The total number of questions is 100.
● The exam is of total 400 marks.
● IPMAT has 2 sections, namely Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability.
● Four marks are awarded for each correct answer and for each wrong answer; there is a
negative marking of 1 mark.
● Within the test, the Quantitative Ability section carries higher weightage than that ofthe
Verbal Ability section. 60% weightage is given to the Quantitative Ability (QA) section, 40%
weightage is given to the Verbal Ability (VA) section.

IPMAT Result
The result of IPMAT is announced by the officials on the official websites of IIM Indore and
IIM Rohtak a few weeks after the exam. IPMAT result is available in the form of
scores/percentile. Candidates can check their overall and sectional scores of IPMAT by
entering their login credentials (application number and date of birth or password).
Shortlisted candidates are called for WAT and PI as part of the selection process. Important

IPMAT CUTOFF
The cutoff of IPMAT refers to the minimum marks to be obtained by test takers in order to get
shortlisted for the final selection procedure. Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore will
announce IPMAT cutoff after the result. The cutoff will be based on the scores of IPMAT
Quantitative Ability (QA) and Verbal Ability (VA) sections. Candidates can get an idea of the
expected cutoff from the previous year’s trends.

Factors Influencing the IPMAT Cutoff Test takers must know the factors taken into
consideration while preparing the IPMAT cutoff in order to better assess their chances of
qualifying for the counselling. The factors are listed below:

IPMAT SELECTION PROCEDURE
IPMAT Selection Procedure After the IPMAT, the selection procedure of IPMAT will be
conducted for selecting candidates for final admissions. IIM Indore has revised and
published the IPMAT selection procedure, which consists of five stages

The first stage is the registration, where candidates need to fill and submit the online
application form on the official website. The second stage is the IPMAT exam, which is a
computer-based test with three sections: Quantitative Ability-MCQ, Quantitative Ability-SA,
and Verbal Ability. The third stage is the Personal Interview (PI), where candidates who
clear the cutoff in the Aptitude Test (AT) are shortlisted and invited for an online interview.
The fourth stage is the generation of provisional merit list, which is based on the scores in
AT and PI. The fifth stage is the announcement of final admission offers, which are given
according to the reservation criteria.

The selection procedure of IPMAT may vary for international candidates, who need to apply
through their SAT scores and appear for a PI round. Candidates who do not appear in any
of the stages or do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria will not be considered for
selection.

Shortlisting Criteria for IPMAT


Test takers will be shortlisted on the basis of IPMAT cutoff which will be announced by IIM
Indore after the result. The cutoff will be based on the overall and sectional percentile of the
Aptitude Test (AT).

Weightage Scheme of IPMAT

Composite score 100 percent

Where will IPMAT selection procedure be held


The officials will conduct the IPMAT selection rounds at various cities across the country.
Candidates can choose their preferred city for the selection rounds at the time of filling the
