GOLDMAN SACHS COVER LETTER - 300 WORDS - Firmwide

Please provide information you would typically include in your cover letter in 300 words or
less. Be sure to provide examples of the qualities you would bring to Goldman Sachs and
describe your motivations for attending the Spring Insight Programme.

I am driven by the desire to play a vital role in the success of global business, performance
of financial markets and growth of the economy, which has led me to want to pursue a
career in banking. I am excited by the prospect of attending the GS Spring Insight
programme, as it will allow me to deepen my understanding of how the industry operates.

Through spending time investing in Cryptocurrencies during my gap year, I began to build
knowledge of financial markets and my interest in understanding the functions of different
asset classes and how they are impacted by key variables, was further stimulated. I’m
curious to understand the ways in which the banking sector responds to changes that drive
markets in order to maximise success for the firm and clients. Through learning about this, I
hope to develop the ability to apply innovative approaches to handling change in the world’s
dynamic economic climate.I possess strong analytical skills, which I was able to refine
through reviewing crypto Whitepapers, to assess each project’s potential. I was able to come
to effective conclusions that determined my investment decisions. I’m eager to develop the
ability to perform this in a more technical manner to guarantee sound returns and under
stricter time constraints, as I’m drawn to excelling in a high pressure environment.

Working in hospitality has led me to have a client focused outlook, with the excellence of
service provided being of importance to me. Developing relationships and having lasting
impressions on customers that keeps them coming back, is something that I am proud of
having achieved while working as a waitress. I have a sharp attention to detail; paying
attention to refilling water before a customer asks for example, has led me to be able to
pre-empt the needs of others which I believe will be highly valuable in my professional
career. I sought out the opportunity to impact business operations by directing staff wine
training, to equip the team with the knowledge to be able to push sales. This resulted in a
25% increase in sales of wine bottles over £75, within 3 months.
