Group Project

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Group Project is a compulsory component of the course DMX9402 (TEU) and a Student has
to take minimum 50 marks for group project to pass this subject
2. A group should consists of 5 – 7 students
3. After completion of the project you are required to submit a joint report indicating the
contribution of each student
4. Indicate all members’ names and their student registration numbers in the Cover page of
the Report
5. Group Leader (or only one group member) has to upload group report to LearnOUSL
platform
6. The length of the report should be limited to 8,000 words and not less than 6,000 words
7. Upload your report (only PDF Format-Max File size 5MB) to LearnOUSL LMS
8. Last date of the Group Report submission is 29th August 2023 (Tuesday) at 23.59 h
9. Date of Oral presentation will be informed after the report submission

Select a process plant where thermal energy contribution is at least 25% of total energy
requirement. Thermal energy supply shall be from steam, thermic oil, hot water or direct fuel
fired (eg. hot air generation). The report should comprise of following requirements. Strictly
follow the standard report writing format with proper units.

(1) A clear graphical representation of energy overview of the process plant. Historical
energy utility data shall be collected for a period of 12-24 months for this.

(2) Study the thermal system in a systematic manner and prepare a comprehensive list of
energy conservation measures (En-con measures).

(3) Propose most suitable energy conservation measures by considering technical and
financial feasibilities (Hint: Consider available technologies, Calculate investment and
payback period for each En-con measure).
