Study population: pregnant women in SOS Hospital
Sample size: 80 respondents were randomly selected from the target population;
this sample size is calculated by using Krejcie & Morgan formula: s = X2 NP (1 –
P) ÷ d2 (N −1) + X2 P (1 – P)
s = required sample size.
X2 = the table value of chi-square for 1 degree of freedom at the desired
confidence level
(3.8416).
N = the population size.
P = the population proportion (assumed to be .50 since this would provide the
maximum sample size).
X2 = the table value of chi-square for 1 degree of freedom at the desired
confidence level
(3.8416).
N = the population size.
P = the population proportion (assumed to be .50 since this would provide the
maximum sample size).
d = the degree of accuracy expressed as a proportion (.05).
s = X2 NP (1 – P) ÷ d2 (N −1) + X2 P (1 – P)
s=3.8416*79510*0.5(1-0.5) /0.0025(79510-1) +3.8416*0.5(1-0.5) =
76361.404 /198.7354
Therefore the percentage of pregnant women is 21%.
So 384*0.21= 80 however, these 80 respondents were selected
