Herodotus is called the father of history.. is history is the first long for of history that we have written
down
Herodotus used myths in order to examine the idea of who the Greeks really were
it wasn’t meant to be a religious text
anything that happens with conversations about the Persian king is completely made up
and he would ridiculously inflate the number of the Persian army to make it more exciting
he would write with his own personal idea, his slant
he said that things do not stay the same
he said what goes up must come down
he said that the women Io was stolen by easterners
and the Greeks were mad so they stole europa and medea
which caused the east to steal Helen
and that is how the conflict began in his writing, which lead to the Persian war
his first story seems to come out of nowhere just to entertain
