CHOIR
Is a group, chorale or a body of singers who trained
to sing and perform together. It may be sacred,
secular, mixed or made up of males or females
alone.
Importance of choir in
the church
1. It provides opportunities for many members

to serve.
2. It helps produce good congregational singing.
3. A choir can provide life-long opportunities for
people to serve the Lord.
4. It can highlight diversity in a church.

5. It helps promote teamwork.

and amateurs who love to sing all can find a place in the

choir.

The conductor shall select all choral anthems to
be sung by the choir.
The conductor will be responsible for the choir's
appearance, sound, and delivery.
Choirs shall rehearse weekly and at additional
times as identified by special needs, with
rehearsals conducted by the conductor.

Pastoral Reponsibilities
To maintain a Christ-like attitude in all things.

To be responsible for lifting up the pastor in prayer,

word, and deed.

To enter into worship wholeheartedly and with

enthusiasm.
To lead in the congregational singing of hymns,

choruses, and spiritual songs.

To be helpful in giving prayers, testimonies, scriptural

admonitions, (especially when a general invitation has

been given without any ready congregational response).


Musical Reponsibilities
Attend rehearsals.

Rehearsing the Choir

Be respectful of each other, the

pastor, and the conductor.

Be open-minded to learning new

music.
Keep your eyes on the director for

direction and cues.

Be sensitive to tempo, balance, dynamics,

articulation, and phrasing when singing.

Warm-up your voice before rehearsals and

services, and use your singing voice at

other times during the week.

Vocal Register
A vocal register is a series of notes that share a similar

sound and texture in your voice.


The voice is usually divided in two registers:

1. Chest Voice- Refers to the notes at the bottom of your

range. They all share a similar strong, brassy sound.

2. Head Voice- Refers to the notes at the top of your range.

Notes all share a flutey, breathy, and angelic sound.
