Dear Islington Arts Factory Team,

I'm Ilán Valdés, an MFA Photography graduate from UAL Camberwell, reaching
out to present a proposal for a solo exhibition at Islington Arts Factory.

Titled "An Early Retrospective," the exhibition seeks to offer a unique

amalgamation of artistic expressions. It features garments suspended from
chains, a small vintage TV showcasing short films, paintings, photolithographic
prints, photography, one chlorophyl print and kinetic sculptures designed to
polarize light. This eclectic mix creates an immersive experience for viewers.

The term "Early Retrospective" is intentional, reflecting my status as a young

artist eager to showcase the processes that inform my practice. Through this
exhibition, I aim to provide insights into my creative journey, emphasizing the
evolution and experimentation inherent in my work.

My artistic exploration revolves around perceptual shifts, identity construction,

and the intricate interplay between human and artificial biases. The sculptures
within the exhibition serve as interactive devices, prompting viewers to question
their comfort zones and confront inherent biases in our ways of seeing.

I employ a systemic methodology to process images through various media,

examining the boundaries of quality, definition, and the often-unnoticed
coexistence of perceptions in identity construction. The goal is to make these
complex subjects more visible and encourage contemplation.

The kinetic sculptures, specifically designed to polarize light, invite viewers to

reconsider their preconceived notions and engage with the subtle biases that
shape their perceptions.

I believe "An Early Retrospective" aligns with Islington Arts Factory's

commitment to providing a safe, non-judgmental space for artistic expression.
You can find more information about my work at ilanvaldes.com.pe. I am eager
to discuss this proposal further and explore the possibility of showcasing this
exhibition at your esteemed venue.

Looking forward to your response.

Warm regards,
Ilán Valdés
