A word processed report using 1.5 line spacing must be submitted. The font size should be 12 and should

Scenario:
After having successfully completed your Higher National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic
Engineering at the MITD SITEC- Automation Training Unit, you have been appointed as a Junior
Engineer at the Electrical Services Division (ESD) of the Ministry of Health & Wellness (MOH),
Candos Hospital.
Your main responsibilities require you:
(i) to give consultancy services by preparing Scope of Works to design/develop
efficiently an engineering delivery plan of Evaluating, Installation,
Commissioning/Testing and Maintenance of medical equipment, generators and Air
Conditioners used in Operation Theatres (OT) so as to meet effectively the
requirements of the public hospital;
(ii) You will have to supervise and manage effectively a team which consists of
Technicians, Electricians, Plant Mechanics, Maintenance Officers, Attendants and
Contractors from private companies;
(iii) To be accountable for the whole project and demonstrate effective leadership and
communication skills and making strategic decisions and risk assessment in the
evaluation of efficiencies in products, processes/procedures and by taking into
account environmental aspects, sustainable and innovative engineering solutions. By
ensuring quality and compliance with standards at every stage, and timely delivery
within budget constraints with the aim to meet the goals, objectives and policies of
resource efficiencies, cut-cost, no wastage, streamlined processes and procedures,
innovation so as to improve performance in a continuous improvement cycle and
maintain the concept for sustainability in the public service;
(iv) To efficiently manage work schedules and make use of management tools such as
the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 and so on to better understand efficiency
gains which will require upskilling/ reskilling the engineering workforce and applying
efficiency in specific activities and/or aspects including straightforward use of machines
and tools, fast and simple adaptations of a given method / solution/ tool, easy
installation, reuse of components, single verification and easy maintenance.

Task 1:
As the Junior Engineer, you are required to evaluate the steps taken and specify the
management tools used to efficiently design the engineering services delivery plan for 10 Air
Conditioners that are required in the OT at the hospital. In your report, you are required to give
justified recommendations on the contingencies that might cause obstructions in the process so
as to enable ESD to make decisions which are aligned with efficiency, the organisation’s goals,
objectives, policies and requirements.

Task 2:
As the Junior Engineer, you will have to attend management meetings and deliver presentation to
persuade and negotiate on the recommendations you put in your reports. To that extent,
(i) Outline (a) the steps for effective persuasion and negotiation;
(b) the steps to deliver an effective presentation;
( c) the steps for managing effective group meetings.

(ii) Evaluate how you would effectively lead management meetings for examples on
issues such as for the procurement of energy-efficient Air Conditioners, Training
& Development of personnel, procurement of Quality
products/materials/electrical fittings which meet standards but are too costly.
You are required also, in your presentation, to inform the management how you
would efficiently handle the issues of poorly performing team in the process to
meet the requirements of the client.
