Hi everyone, the book I chose was “Unwind” by Neal Shuster man.

During my presentation I will discuss

the overview of the book, the theme I chose to relate it to and its relevance to society.

Unwind is based on the futuristic of the usa ND THE PRO LIFE VS PRO CHOICE MOVEMENT. During this
era in the book it is depicted as a right vs wrong between these 2 choices

If a person is deemed to be unwound their body parts are ripped apart and donated to “people who
need them”

In the book 3 teenagers are scheduled to be unwound. Those teens are Conner Rissa and Lev.

Conner is a delinquent and his parents signed a contact for him to be unwound.

Rissa is an orphan who was bound to be unwound eventually, because they wanted to reduce her
orphanage costs.

Lev is a friend of Conner and Rissa. He was born deemed to be unwound.

Being unwound is based on organ donations between the ages 13 to 18 based on society’s laws of
unwinding. The main social issue that I have identified in the book is abortion. In the book parents as
well as children face the dilemma of being unwound. In constant to women being pregnant and unsure
of what to do with the pregnancy.

Roe vs wade is a landmark case that addresses the choice to have an abortion. It specifically outlines in
many states how women can choose to have an abortion and the legality of it in those states.

In the book parents are allotted the option of unwinding their children of the age 13. Based on those
parameters outlined in the book it closy related to roe v wade. This gives them the option to unwind
their children or not this relates to Roe vs wade as well as pro life vs pro choice. As it mimics one’s
decision in the choice of life.

This video discussed the debate between pro life vs pro choice in modern society pro choice and pro life
is based on conception and early pregnancy. The book unwind debates pro life vs pro choice at the age
of 13. In this video there is some debate surrounding the duration and justification of a child and when
abortion can or should occur. While the stages in life in both the book and clip differ the confliction with
abortion/unwinding is a consistent theme.
