Please see my comments below in RED. Hi Brock, James Vaughn and I were talking and he told me that he had spoken with you. I just wanted to confirm what he said. I am looking for information about the shredding of the ballots for Multnomah County elections. I understand you go to their office to do the shredding with your equipment. That is correct. Here are my questions: Can you just tell me if the Multnomah County Elections Division asked you to shred documents in the last 4 months? Yes, in the last four months we were asked to shred for Elections on December 3, which was postponed until December 27, 2010 due to reported "recount" concern. If you did, were the documents ballots? AccuShred NW employees follow the National Association for Information Destruction AAA best practices which do not include identification of what our customers ask to be shred. By contract our customers must notify us if we are shredding financial instruments over a certain value, otherwise it is confidential what is to be shred. Presumably we understood the documents to be ballots, which was verbally reported to us, however, AccuShred NW employees are not trained to identify ballots, versus any other document that they may inadvertently see in the course of shredding activities, which information is held confidential via confidentiality contracts in place. When did you shred them? 2010 shredding occurred on Jan. 26, with six 65 gallon roll carts volume of documents June 25, with ninety five 65 gallon roll carts volume of documents December 27, with one hundred and one 65 gallon roll carts volume of documents If they canceled and gave you any reason for the cancellation. Date, time and reason for the cancellation. Cancellation on December 3rd occurred at the Elections facility in the morning when we arrived to complete the job and it was reported to AccuShred NW employees that a recount had been ordered and nothing could be shred. In late April after hearing about a pending large project at Elections for some time, it was reported to AccuShred NW that Elections wanted to wait until a certain vote had been certified, and a target date of early/mid June was forecasted...project completed on 6-25-2010 Anything else you think would help us document what is happening with our elections. AccuShred NW is a subcontractor to Trashco who holds the contract with the county. Thanks for helping us document a history of our elections. Janice Dysinger
