Directions for Skit Activity

A skit is a short informal performance intended to educate.
You will demonstrate your ability to write a skit using this format.
Before beginning your skit, decide on the situation, setting, and character names.
Here are some ideas to help you brainstorm:
• students discussing a problem with a teacher
• a person trying to convince a supervisor to hire him or her
• teens and a parents discussing culture
• a concerned citizen discussing a problem in the neighborhood with the mayor
• a salesperson trying to convince a customer to buy a product
• Immigration

Make sure your skit is organized and follows a logical story line. The skit must give enough
details to help move the story along. The words you use must be appropriate for the context of
the story. Be creative!

Your final skit should be typed or neatly written and must follow the format from the template.

Proofread your skit to correct mistakes in punctuation, spelling, and grammar.

You and your partner will present your skit to the class. To prepare for your presentation,
practice reading and enunciating the words, using eye contact, interacting with your partner, and
showing expression.

Narrator: In the university hall, the elites stroll with confidence and arrogance while the
working class watches them with envy and suspicion.
Welcome to college, where social hierarchies are stronger than the walls of this
institution and as prevalent as cockroaches in the dorms.

Mia Klein: Look at these poor people, without class or ambition.

Alexander Evans: With that, he always tries to defend their so-called rights (laughs)

Narrator: In a classroom, working-class students meet in secret, and discuss their

frustrations.

Ryan reed: This oppression is becoming more and more intolerable.

Eva Sullivan: I agree. We must defend our rights against his arrogant snobs. We are all equal and
deserve the same opportunities.

Davi Williams: I don't know, I'm a little hesitant about it. I don't want to have any problems.
Narrator:
Meanwhile Alexander passing by discovers their meeting and crashes there.

Alexander Evans: Ah, Davi, still trying to climb the steep mountain of success. Don't get too tired, the
view from the top is much better. A word of advice for you: stay in your seats, it's
impossible to fight against something as inevitable as... (laughs and looks sarcastic)
natural superiority.

Davi Williams: You will know what we are capable of.

Alexander Evans: Laughs

Narrator: Alexander and Davi find themselves in an isolated location, their exchanges fraught
with sarcasm and rivalry.

Alexander Evans: You know, you could be quite attractive if you stopped fighting at windmills.

Davi Williams: And you would almost be bearable if you stopped behaving like the king of the
world.

Alexander Evans: Um… I think I do indeed own part of the world. (laughs)

Narrator: A new student, Ethan, enters the scene, his mysterious appearance and piercing gaze
immediately intrigue the other students.

Taylor Moore: Not a bad new guy, he’s definitely one of ours.
Christopher Miller: This one is quite intriguing. Hate to insert him into the battle.

Mia Klein: I hope he already knows his place. I will not accept any betrayal.

Ethan Brown: Ah, the joys of rebellion! I feel so alive.

Eva Sullivan: Hi. Are you the new bourgeois to be added to the list of oppressors?

Ethan Brown: Not at all, I prefer to regain the winning side in this fight, and not that of these
snobbish and infuriating little bourgeois.

How dare you rebel against us? Come back to our circle immediately, or you will
Taylor Moore:
regret it!

Ethan Brown: Um… NO.

Mia Klein: Come with us, Ethan. You're too... original to hang out with the "commons".

Ethan Brown: No. I want to have a little fun.

Through meetings and conversations, Ethan ends up discovering the relationship

Narrator: between Alexander and Davi.

Ethan Brown: You two…..are you “together”? (Laughs)

Alexander Evans: Maybe.

Davi Williams: yes, that could be it. It does not concern you.
Ethan Brown: I just want to help you and by the way break down your social barriers
between your respective friends.

Narrator: And so, in the corridors of the university, the masks fall and the truths come to
light.

Mia Klein: What does he actually see in her?

Taylor Moore: But oh what a betrayal.

Come on guys, stop with all that. It's getting heavy, they're humans just like us, why
Christopher Miller:
do we have to fight them every time?

That’s true. I mean, they already know they are poor.

Mia Klein:

Taylor Moore:
Not wrong.

Joining the community with Davi and Alexander for support, Ethan resolves to help
Narrator:
bring the two clans together.

Ethan Brown: It's time we put an end to this farce. We are all here to learn, not to play futile power
games.

Davi Williams: We must end this division. Together we are stronger.

Christopher Um maybe we have been enough…..

Miller:
Ryan Reed: Oppressive, evil?

Taylor Moore: Yes, a little of all that.

Alexander Evans: Sorry for all that.

Eva Sullivan: You are all excused.

Principal Michael Peterson: Finally, you have understood the real lesson of this university: the importance of
unity in diversity.

And so, in the halls of the university, conspiracies turn into unlikely alliances,
Narrator:
proving that even in the darkest times, truth and solidarity can triumph.
