SYMMETRICAL COMPONENTS : ( FORTESCUE’S THEOREM ) Any unbalanced 3g system of vectors can be resolved into three (3) balanced system of vectors Neely: a hail set of 3— vectors having the same phase sequence as the original unbalanced system of vectors. This balanced system of 39 vectors is known as “Positive Seguence System” (2) A balanced sct of 3¢ vectors having phase sequence which opposite to that of the original unbalanced system of vectors. This balanced system of 2 vectors is known as “Negative Sequence System”. (3.) A set of three (3) 1 vectors which are equal in magnitude and which have exactly the seme 3@ position with respect to any given reference axis. HARMONICS in different 3 system: In 3 systems, harmonics may be produced in the same way as in 1 system, Hence,fo: all calculations each harmonic is treated separately. Usually, EVEN harmonics are absent in 49 system. But care must be excreised when dealing with ODD harmonics, especially with 3". and all riple-n harmonics, The following points are important in harmonic analysis for 3¢ systems : @ All triple-n harmonics 34.9",15". ...etc, are in phase. (i). The 7*.,13".&19". Harmonics have positve phase rotation of A+ (iii) The S11, &17. Harmonies have negative phase rotation of 4-C. (iv) For Star-connected system ,the line voltages will be the difference between the successive phase voltages and hence will contain No 3, harmonic terms, because being identical in each phase, thus it will cance! out () For Delia-connected system the resultant emif acting around the closed loop would be the sum of the phase emfs, I is zero in the case of fundamental,S®,7®,11".,178 etc, but for 3,9"., 15" ete,the resultant emf is 3 times the Phase value acting in the loop.
