Smappee Infinity Modbus TCP Energy Meter

This document describes the necessary information setup and use the Smappee Infinity Modbus TCP
solution.

IMPORTANT: Modbus TCP is only available on the Smappee Connect gateway (i1-GW-3)

Installation:
Steps to test the Modbus TCP setup:
1. Install Power Box + CT Hub + Connect as in the installation manual
2. It is recommended to use Ethernet for connectivity and internet connectivity.
3. Follow the steps in Smappee mobile App to configure and connect the Connect-gateway to
the internet.
Setup:
• It is not required to complete the load configuration and CT assignment in the mobile app
(standard Infinity installation). The load configuration for Modbus-TCP can to be setup
through Modbus-TCP.
• Alternative is to do the initial load configuration and changes ALWAYS through the Smappee
mobile app or dashboard and no configuration changes are executed through Modbus-TCP.

IMPORTANT: Always use either the app OR Modbus-TCP to do the configuration, NEVER a
combination of both methods. This will lead to mismatches between the Smappee cloud and Modbus-
TCP configurations.

Modbus TCP connection:

The Connect is already configured in Modbus TCP mode and
is listening on the default Modbus TCP port : 502.

Slave ID is 61

To readout / configure the Connect gateway through Modbus TCP, use mDNS to readout / configure
the Connect gateway: smappee<Connect serial number>:502

Example: smappee5130000001:502

Modbus TCP registers:

Attached you can find the registers that are available via the Connect/ Power Box in the Excel sheet:
