Search Layout:

Search layouts in Salesforce are an ordered group of fields that are displayed when a
record is presented in a particular context such as in search results, a lookup dialog, or in a
related list.

Now We will search the Japan record in the Global Search

Japan - Search result is shown. Suppose Battle station – if you want to include “Project status and
weapon status field also in the result. We need to go to respective object – Search layout section.
Layout Management

Then Click Edit button of the Search result and include required fields and click Save.

Again, if you search the Japan in the global search.

Page Layout:

Page layouts control the layout and organization of buttons, fields, s-controls, Visualforce,
custom links, and related lists on object record pages. They also help determine which fields are
visible, read only, and required. Use page layouts to customize the content of record pages for
your users.

Before Page layout modification

To align the fields/button etc. Go to particular object – Page layout – Edit.

Go to pagelayout – Select the page layout and edit the layout

In Pagelayout- If you want to make any fields as required. You can go to the particular
field and click the screw Icon and make it as Required. Now I will make Weapon status as
Mandatory field and Save the page layout

Mini Page layout:

Salesforce Mini View provides users small record previews that are visible once the mouse
pointer is hovered over a record name. The Mini View presents the records related to the
main detail records. These related records show up on a small panel through a mini page layout

You can include required fields and Save the page layout

Record types:

Record types in Salesforce allow you to have different business processes, picklist values,
and page layouts to different users based on profile. You might create record types to
differentiate your regular sales deals from your professional services engagements, offering
different picklist values for each.

Example : 2 record types

Battle Admin – Battle station object – Project status – Picklist (green/yellow/red/complete) – All
values are available
Battle User - Battle station object – Project status – Picklist (green/yellow/red) expect complete
picklist value are not available

Field level Security:

In Battle station object – we have 2 page layout . If you want Weapon status field of Battle station
should be read only while selecting Battle user record type. Then we need to choose Pagelayout of
battle station object - BATTLE USER LAYOUT (Page layout)

To test this scenario – Go to Battle station tab- click New button - Select the Battle user record types –
Create a new test record in battle station.
