Mass, weight, density

Differentiate Between Mass, Weight and density
MASS
• Mass is the amount of substance in a Object
• Mass is a scalar Quantity
• SI unit is KG(Kilogram)
• Mass cannot be changed
• Mass is measured by beam balance

WEIGHT
• Weight is the gravitational pull of the earth
• Weight is a vector Quantity
• SI unit is N(Newton)
• Weight changes due to the value of gravity
• Weight is measured by spring balance
• W=mg, Where [m] is mass and [g] is gravitational pull

DENSITY
• Density is defined as mass per unit volume.
• Formula, Density=mass/volume
• D=m/v or ρ=m/v

How to find Weight by using its formula

Let Assume,

PLACES EARTH MOON MARS

GRAVITATIONAL FEILD 9.8 1.6 3.6
MASS 84kg 84kg 84kg
W=mg W=mg W=mg
CALCULATION =84*9.8 =84*1.6 =84*3.6
=823.2N/M =134.4N/M 302.4N/M

Since, The Mass of the body will be same because as it doesn’t have any effect of gravitational pull.
