Chapter 3: Safety Rules
Do not use this system far any purpose other than that far which it was designed.
The main warnings concerning the potential hazards associated with this equipment are as
follows :
Weight: The system is very heavy and requires an appropriate lifting device far
safe handling .
Chemicals: Follow the applicable safety regulations far products when handling
oils, greases or other chemical substances!
KADANT LAMORT applies by default the safety requirements of relevant European Union
directives, mainly the "Machinery Directive" (2006/42/EC). Our expertise and liability are
necessarily restricted to the scope of our supply, which is defıned by the equipment sales
contract. The customer is therefore responsible far applying all safety requirements that we
cannot provide given this scope of supply.
When residual risks are identified in its supply, KADANT LAMORT gives recommendations
and warnings in this notice. We alsa give a few fundamental instructions in the remainder of
this chapter.
We alsa remind our customers that a customer established in the European Union and
represented by the head of the company is subject to Directive 89/381/EEC on the
introduction of measures to encourage improvements in the safety and health of workers in
the context of their professional activity.
Parts and major assemblies to be replaced must be carefully slung up with hoists and be
secured.
Never stand or work beneath equipment that is suspended or being lifted : pay attention to
the weight of parts.
For all assembly work at heights exceeding that of human helght, use means of access and
platforms provided tor this purpose or other devices complying with safety rules.
The opening of guards and lids is not controlled by sensors; the machine does
not stop when a guard is open.
