2.1 DESCRIPTION
The parts supplied are m ai ııly co nıposed of one or severa l celi tank(s) and a certain number
of canisters of injecto rs , depe nd lng on the number of ce ll(s) aerations.
The connection piping upstream the canisters are also provided .
2.1 .1 CELL
2.1.1.1 Operation:
lnitially, the pulp is injecting through the connection of the fırst stage (E1 ). it passes through a
canister of injectors to be aerated before the passage in the tank then exists at the other
extremity at the level of A 1 connection. At this step, the pulp is picked up again by a pump to
be injected through the second stage connection (E2) .
This cycle is repeated as many times as the number of aerations on the cell, the last aeration
output corresponding to the accepts.
in parallel , foams are recovered in the upper part of the cell (M connection).
Page 2-3 / 5
Chapter 2: Descriptlon and operalion
2.1.1.2 Equipment:
The cell has several accessories tor its operati on and its maintenan ce.
- A rupture disk located on the dome (see th e mounting drawing follow ing the sketch on
append ix 8).
MAXIMAL BURSTING PRESSURE : 0,4 bar± 10 %
- A nozzle allowing the event assembly: Generally provided by the customer, the event
mu st be opened tor th e discharqe of the celi (0 on the requirement sketch of the
celi) ;
- A pressure sensor located on the dome (position depending on the requirement
sketch of the celi) ;
- Two (2) stage transmitters located of the tank (position depending on the requirement
sketch of the celi) ;
- A toams display window composed of several parts ;
- Two tank cleaning trap doors (1 if the celi hasa small size) ;
- The access to the trap doors is not a part of our supply and the customer is
responsible tor providing all necessary devices in compliance with applicable
standards (ramps, ete.)
As stated previously, the number of canisters of injectors changes depending on the number
of aerations of the celi.
Each canister has two end shields. Upstream, the transition piece allows the connection to
flanges of the stores. Downstream, a specifıc piece allows the connection to the cell
(depending on the case, it could be removable or fıxed). The air inlet is located on the
canister (on cells with low flow, the canister can be replaced by several canisters supplied in
series a single piping).
inside are arranged all injectors, the number directly depending on cell capacity.
in order to have the optimum result, it is advisable to install a manometer between the pump
outlet and the canister of injectors (pressure measurement: Oto 4 bars).
in addition, to easily access to the inlet face of canisters, a door type "hole punching" is
installed upstream of the can ister. A trap is also provided at the can ister outlet.
On smali size cells, considering the sizes and the weights of piping pieces, the doors are not
provided .
2.1.3 IMPLANTATION
For the installation ofa celi MAK-C requiring a particular study, the connection orientations
will respect the tollowing points:
- The inlet/outlet and discharge orientations will be imposed by KADANT;
- The other equipment will be defineci by agreement between the customer and
KADANT, if and only if the standard KADANT is not applicable on the installation site.
Remark:
in all cases , a celi must be supported over its entire surface, the flat
bottom not being providing for the sealing of the tank.
The safest option is stili the supporting by a concrete slab. The metallic
frame is an option but it requires structure related to the thickness of the
bottom , the load in the celi and the intemal pressure applied on the roof.
in addition , if the foundation is different from that proposed by KADANT,
eventually provide reservations for the last inlet in the celi.
The foundation sketch concems the machine only. it does not take into
account any reservations conceming peripheral equipment or various
links (pipes , cables ... ).

lf the celi cannot be installed in one piece, the number of components will depend on these
both parameters : Maximum transportation size or maximum dimension requ ired by the
openings on the site . in such cases , the number of components is variable and the assembly
will be realized on site , in agree ment with the customer.
The assembly should be realized respecting a chronology .

befo re begınning tt,e mc,t · atıorı on site. it will detail exactly how to
proceed .
Remark :
it may happen that some steps can be carried out before the customer
delivery (example : welding of the upper tank on the lower tank).
4.2.3 GENERALITIES
The cell fıxation is realized using anchor bolts, generally purchased by KANDANT LAMORT.
lmportant: They must be "chemlcal anchors". it is necessary to ensure
that the sealing of these anchors it not rendered imposslble by the
presence of reinforcement at the positions indicated on the foundation
sketch.
The supporting of the inlet connection should be planned by the customer. See principle
drawing in Appendix 9.
Generally nameplates are installed on the cell. However, sometimes, they can be delivered
with canisters of injectors.
in this case, plan to install them ona cell visible area (if the plate should be riveted , take care
to install it on any reinforcement and not on the tank).
4.3 CONNECTIONS
After cells installation, realize connections of the various piping , as well as connections to
different electrical and pneumatic systems:
Connections of pulp outlet connections to pumps (pumps are covered by separate
manuals);
Connections of pumps to cell pulp inlet boxes;
Remark:
Plan manomete rs between pumps and canisters to adjust the injectors
supplied pressure (measure Oto 4 bars).
4.4 TESTS
Tests mainly consist to realize a tank fılling to check the sealing .
lmportant:
At this moment, all security instruction should be made to avoid any
accident, including:
closing of ali trap doors,
fıxing of the anchor bolts,
assembly in due form of the rupture disc.
