EE 518 Power Conversion and Control in Photovoltaic Systems, Spring 2016-17

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT #2
Due date: 03.03.2017

Problem description:
 A grid-connected inverter based on bipolar full bridge topology is used to feed PV power to the
grid. The component values are given in the PSIM file schematic. Please find the PSIM simulation
file on the course web page, or download using the following link:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B230PxKelLNkQ05lZlpnenhXNms
 Assume the PV array electrical parameters at standard test conditions as follows;
Maximum power=2100 W
Voltage at max. power point=350V
Current at max. power point=6 A

Questions:
1. Calculate the Vcontrol voltage ( magnitude and phase) that makes the transferred power equal to
2100W at unity power factor.
2. Verify your answer with PSIM simulation by adjusting the Vcontrol voltage.
3. Repeat step 1 and 2 for the output power of 1050W. (Vpv =350V)
Answer the following questions for the maximum power by using PSIM simulations;
4. The average and rms value of switch currents.
5. The voltage stress of all the switches.
6. Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the Igrid current.
7. The earth leakage current through the Ccm capacitor .
8. Prepare a report as pdf file. You can use scanner.
9. Upload your homework files (report+simulation files) as *.rar format into the following
dropbox link
