INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has affected day to day life and is slowing down the
global economy. This pandemic has affected thousands of peoples, who are either
sick or are being killed due to the spread of this disease. The emphasis is on taking
masks, and so on. This virus is spreading exponentially region wise (Whus, 2015).
Countries are banning gatherings of people to the spread and break the exponential
curve. Many countries are locking their population and enforcing strict quarantine to
control the spread of the havoc of this highly communicable disease. (Lunh, L.
(2002).
According to John (2019) Due to the on-going pandemic, things have changed
a lot. We need to wear masks everywhere, sanitize our hands time to time, etc. One
such issue that the researchers found was, after using our mobile phones or other
Thus, we the Researchers wanted to build something that could help people stay
away from germs by disinfecting their essentials without touching the disinfecting
machine itself.

Ultraviolet (UV) lamps emit light in the 200-400 nm wavelength range. The 200-
300 nm range is often called germicidal because this UV light is absorbed by the DNA
structure of the DNA and RNA, rendering the microorganisms incapable of replicating.
Because they cannot multiply, they cannot cause disease, even though technically they
typically applied to filtered water and is often installed after the filter effluent piping
recombining before the clear well. It is very important that the operators are able to
control the UV output in the reactor so that at least a minimum UV dose is applied at all
times.
2
Theoretical Background
Since the outbreak of Sars-CoV-2 public health measures have been adopted
globally, most notably the use of face masks has become essential and often mandatory.
As a result, about 3.4 billion single-use face masks are estimated to be discarded daily
the environment, the ecosystem and therefore human health. We aimed to assess if UV-C
light is an efficient tool for proper mask disinfection, to guarantee their safe reuse and
precious metals (Harris et al. 2012; Nyangaresi et al. 2018).The power supply of the
sources can be continuous or pulsed, so the light emitted by the sources, the lifetime, and
the spectrum emission depends on the nature of source and the power supply type. The
conventional UVC lamps, of medium or low pressure, remain the most common
disinfection unit source. However, these lamps present inherent disadvantages such as the
use of mercury, the low mechanical stability, and ozone production. They are related at
30 W power and their peak emission was at 254 nm; their lifetime is about 8000 hours.
source that produces short-time flashes (Otaki et al. 2003). The lamps are used to
generate broad spectrum 200–300 nm high intensity UV light. The UVC-LEDs are also
The advantage of UVC-LEDs is their compact size and energy saving, which is
four to nine times more efficient than the UVC lamps in water treatment. However, their

use is still limited as a result of their high cost (Harris et al. 2012; Nyangaresi et
al. 2018). Several studies were reported in order to compare the efficiency of the different
disinfection units. In fact, McDonald et al. (2000) have compared the decontamination of
surfaces and the inactivation of microbe by using conventional lamps and pulsed light
sources. They found that pulsed UV light is more effective than conventional lamps.
Stibich et al. (2011) have compared the conventional lamps and pulsed xenon systems for

reflective walls and humidifiers, were used to enhance disinfection effectiveness. In this
context, several authors (Rutala et al. 2013; Krishnamoorthy and Tande 2014; Sung et
al. 2011; Woo et al. 2012) have studied the effect of complementary devices to reduce the
disinfection time therefore increasing the effectiveness of UVC lamps. In fact, Rutala et
al. (2013) have shown that combining UVC lamps with reflective walls reduce the time
from 43 min 42 s to 9 min 24 s. Krishnamoorthy and Tande (2014) have shown that
4
employing reflective paint increases from 20 to 10%, depending on the distance source-
surface, the radiative fluxes on certain surfaces. The experimental results are in
effectiveness. In fact, Woo et al. (2012) have associated UVC lamps with humidifier
using deionized water, beef extract, and artificial salvia, which generates different
humidity levels (30%, 60%, and 90%), in order to examine the relative humidity effect on
A 5.8 logs reduction factor was seen for deionized water at relative humidity of
30% after applying an UVC lamp (1 mW/cm 2) for 30 min. McDevitt et al. (2012) have
studied the susceptibility of influenza virus to UVC and have reported that it increases
microorganisms.

THE PROBLEM
This study aims to determine the satisfaction of using the UV-C disinfection box
to the BIT Computer Technology third year students of Cebu Technological University-
Moalboal Campus.
It also aimed to find out the profile of the respondents, availability devices used

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Method
This method used in the study was quantitative research method. This study,
based on the students being surveyed, focused on the BIT Computer Technology third-
year students day and night program in Cebu Technological University who are currently
enrolled in school year 2021-2022. Data will be found in this study through a
questionnaire that was disseminated to the students. The researchers will send survey
questionnaires to the students through google forms pertaining to their satisfaction with
This study used simple random sampling in selecting the respondents. A survey
questionnaire will be used to gather and collect data about how satisfied the students
towards using the UV-C Light Disinfection Box. All respondents will answer the
formulated survey questionnaire. Results from the survey will be gathered together. After
all, data has already been collected and organized, the analysis will take place. The
researcher’s goal is to determine the students’ satisfaction with the disinfection box.

SUMMARY, FINDINGS, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
This chapter presents the summary, findings and recommendation made in the
study.
Summary
The main purpose of this study is to determine the satisfaction of using the UV-C
disinfection box to the BIT Computer Technology third year students of Cebu
Technological University- Moalboal Campus. It also aimed to find out the profile of the
respondents, availability devices used in disinfecting item and students’ satisfaction to the
Specifically, this sought to answer the following inquiries: The students’ profile
(age, gender and their year and section); Student’s satisfaction to the UV-C Light
Gel and Antibacterial Wipes) for the school year of 2021-2022 for an Action Plan.
29
Findings
1. Student’s Profile
Majority of the respondents were female students of the 3 rd year BIT- Major
Computer Technology and every section of each block section has more females than
males. This states that most students of this gender satisfy how the UV-C Light
Majority of the students tells that they are satisfied in using it and it is effective to
use it every time. It is also easy to learn and very user friendly that even others can
operate it. This means that UV-C Light are the new devices that to disinfect things and
they find it good. In the study of Michael (2010) UV-C Light is usually used in most
other materials for disinfection. Alcohol being the first, because that is the most common
30
Conclusion
Based on the findings, UV-C Light Disinfection box satisfies the students to use it
every time to disinfect their belongings. It is very helpful for student especially in this
time of pandemic. This is revolutionary not just for students but for all here in the
Recommendation
Based on the results of the study, in order to get the most satisfied response from
students, it is recommended that students should have the device and use it in order for
them to have a better understanding in the materials. It is also suggested that students
should learn how the system works in order for them to use it successfully.
