Human memory has been studied and researched in science and philosophy for thousands of years and

has become one of the major topics of interests in cognitive psychology. Memory is the mental activity
which refers to the processes used to obtain, store, retain and retrieve information that one may have
learnt or experienced. Scientists still do not fully understand how the human memory works but they
have carried out many memory tests on humans or animals and they identified that memory can be
clear, vivid, vague,distant, good,terrible or photographic.

I often discuss with my friends about our memory abilities. We can even compete whose memory is
better. For instance, my friend Katya has a memory like a sieve. She is always forgetting what somebody
said her. It is so annoying, so I consider she need to jog her memory. I am amazed at my grandmother's
memory. She has a distant and good, therefore she remembers a lot of events and situations from her
youth and chilhood. She can easily describe her school classroom and recall the names of her teachers
or classmates. Futhermore she keeps in mind a large number of lyrics. It impresses me greately. My dad
has a good memory abilities. He can quickly memorize essential information. It hepls him in working,
because he deals with finances.Personally I have a vivid memory. For example I can remember what my
mum said near that tree four years ago. Moreover I have a photographic memory. Due to my sight I can
quickly memorize necessary learning material before the lesson.

More and more students find themselves losing their memory, so the challenge is how to jog it.
Nowadays, there are a lot of brain games. Different puzzles and crosswords will help you to delay brain
decline and improve your memory. In order to keep your memory in a good state, it is recommendable
to eat fruits and vegetables and drink green tea. Also any products with omega-3 fatty acids are
beneficial for you. Losing a half of night’s sleep can destroy your memory. Thus, nothing has a better
effect on your memory than a good, long sleep.

To sum up memory plays an important role in cognitition and that’s essential to jog it and to care about
your health all the time.
