The Arizona Department Of Corrections Rating System
For this assignment I will referencing the Arizona Department of Corrections rating
system, and touching on the current evaluation process and discussing options to
improve on the process. I work in the department of corrections and the evaluation
system currently implemented is the managing, accountability, and performance
(MAP). This system is far from perfect, and very susceptible to subjective evaluations.
Most employees do not agree with the evaluations they receive and for the most part
this is due to the supervisors not putting in the required effort to properly evaluate each
employee. It is not uncommon for a supervisor to rate all of their subordinates exactly
the same, regardless if one employee excels and the other shows little to no interest.
Supervisors often justify their vanilla evaluations by stating that the evaluations do not
have any effect on your employment, since pay raises are not based from the appraisal.
As you can imagine this method does little to raise the moral of the motivated hard
working staff, and in my opinion needs to be revamped. I would prefer an evaluation
based more on objective performance and behavioral observations. An objective
performance rating is based on the measuring of actual results from employees. Although
the Department of Corrections does not produce a product, or make sales that can be
tracked, they are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment to protect the
public, fellow staff, and the inmates. These
Social Media s Negative Effects On College Athletes
The number of coaches and teams who don t allow players to use social media has
decreased in recent years[...]as coaches realize that many players will use them
anyway(Deshazo 2). Social media has become one of the easiest ways to speak your
mind and have your voice heard. However, with power comes responsibility, if athletes
are not extremely careful about what they choose to announce, it can be dangerous for
their career. There has been a numerous amount of cases where an athlete post or says
something that they should not have and it costs them their career. Social media can be
dangerous for athletes because it can ruin their good reputation and it can become a huge
distraction to their career. Social media can put an athlete`s... Show more content on

If an athlete receives criticism through social media, it can affect their mental game. It
can make them feel pressured or it can bring them down. Athletes are still considered
human and can still get their feelings hurt. It`s not easy performing for your college,
state, or even nation. Adding onto that, criticism is the last thing that athletes need.
Regardless of how good or bad of a player you are, there will always be those fans that
say rude and inappropriate comments on social media, there is no way to avoid it. A
published study found that distractions and criticism can drain mental energy leading
to a decrease in how good they perform (Cohn 1). The best thing for athletes to do is
just ignore the criticism by not even going on social media at all. Social media makes
athletes feel as if they need to perform good for online glory. It is proven that social
media can become a distraction and interfere with an athlete`s ability to focus on their
sport (Puymbroeck 1). Receiving distractions can provoke a negative mood and stress,
which can then take up mental energy. The athlete will feel down and will not perform
at their best. When the athletes goes on social media and reads comments and fans
taunting them, they can feel as if they aren t good enough or that they don t belong on
the team. The story of Ricky Williams is one that will never be forgotten. Ricky played
in the NFL and ended up
Oropharyngeal Airway
Respiratory emergencies can be caused by obstructions, inflammations, trauma, and
several different disease processes. The most common obstruction of the airway is the
tongue. This usually occurs when the patient has become unconscious secondary to
another cause such as intoxication, low blood sugar, or trauma. While tongue
obstruction of the airway can have deadly results, it can be easily solved by re
positioning the airway using the either the jaw thrust maneuver if trauma is suspected,
or the head tilt chin lift if no trauma is suspected. Also if the patient is unconscious and
has no gag reflex you can use an oropharyngeal airway to hold the tongue up and out of
the airway. However, using an oropharyngeal airway does not mean that you can... Show

Other times severe trauma can cause pulmonary edema such as blood in the lungs.
Patients who are unresponsive for various reasons such as cardiac arrest, alcohol
intoxication, or low blood sugar can aspirate stomach contents due to the loss of their
ability to protect their own airway. Aspiration can severely impede the alveoli s ability
to exchange gases. The patient can suffocate if action is not taken promptly. The
aspiration may also cause pneumonia or other types of infections that can be
potentially deadly for the patient. This is one of the reasons why managing and
controlling n unconscious patient s airway is so crucial during pre hospital care.
Another critical respiratory emergency is a pulmonary embolism. A pulmonary
embolism can be caused by a blood clot, by an air bubble, by a large foreign body in
the circulatory system such as a catheter shear, or in rare cases by amniotic fluid in
pregnant females. Whatever the cause of the embolism, the results can have the same
deadly consequences. Most blood clots that become pulmonary embolisms originate in
the legs of patients with poor circulation of some type of leg
Does Wisdom Necessarily Result In The Living Of A Good Life
Does wisdom necessarily result in the living of a good life?
Introduction: Wisdom is generally thought of as a certain set of knowledge which
inevitably results in the person who has it living a good life. This is because a wise
person is both someone who knows the correct things, knows how to rationally
implement them and succeeds at doing so. However, is it true that this inevitably leads
the person with these traits living a good life?
Thesis: I argue that wisdom is a mixture of practical knowledge and abstract knowledge
where a person is capable of and succeeds at applying these ideas in a rational way that
results in a good life.
Argument: In order to be truly wise it seems clear that a person must know the
universe and their place in it. As such extensive knowledge is necessary. However,
they must also have extensive knowledge of their own life and therefore must be
expert in the proper way of applying this knowledge and will therefore live well. Such
a person s knowledge will also make it clear to them the inherent value of living well,
and would therefore have to desire it as well as know how to attain it (Hursthouse 12).
Someone who is not living well and therefore virtuously surely cannot then be wise.
Objection 1: It seems clear that a person could be wise in that they simply had extensive
theoretical and practical knowledge, and yet experience great pain through no fault of
their own. Surely such a person is not happy, yet as Aristotle said happiness is best
